Solid wood floors are sanded down and re-lacquered whereas engineered wood floors have less wood in the Lemalla layer to sand down so is imperative that this be taken into account.

Solid wood flooring is made up of planks of solid wood, usually the older harder woods such as Oak. The thickness of the planks mean that the floor can be sanded and maintained for much longer than its engineered counterpart. Solid wood flooring is full of life and character and great for areas of high footfall due to the fact that it can be sanded down to restore its appearance. It is advisable to have your solid wood flooring installed by an expert to ensure that the wood is properly fitted to the sub floor.

Laminate wood flooring offers a highly practical alternative to real wood at a lower price. Utilising advancements in technology and imagery, laminate flooring can now create a realistic wood effect without many of the issues associated with solid wood flooring such as warping. The great thing about laminate wood flooring is the variety and indeed consistency in designs. It is highly unlikely that you will find a type of wood that is not available in laminate and furthermore the designs are there to see prior to laying the laminate.

Vinyl wood flooring uses synthetic materials and designs to imitate the look and feel of real wood whilst retaining the desirable qualities of vinyl. Unlike real wood which is porous and absorbs moisture, wood effect vinyl is waterproof and therefore more practical. Furthermore, dirt cannot work its way into the grains of the wood which makes wood vinyl much easier to clean.

Laminate flooring technology has improved significantly since its introduction in 1977 by Swedish manufacturer Perstorp. It is often considered to be a cheaper alternative to real wood or luxury vinyl, however with advancements in technology this synthetic flooring can now deliver a realistic feel and appearance. Laminate flooring is created by fusing 3 layers (or more) together: the backing layer which is designed to prevent absorption of moisture and other materials, a core layer usually made up of HDF or High Density Fibreboard.

Once you've selected a carpet/flooring, underlay, any accessories and additional services required (such as removal of your old carpet), we'll arrange with you for an estimator to visit your home to measure. Although we can give a guide price based on your own measurements, the firm price estimate will be based on a survey of the site and the measurements taken by your Hudson Flooring estimator. Our flooring estimator will carefully measure the area and provide you with an in-home estimate for the most cost-effective fit.

With over a century of experience and a Royal Warrant awarded in 2013, Victoria Carpets is a brand full of prestige. Creating a wide range of tufted carpets including twist, loop, saxony, velvet and wilton, they are a well-known brand for producing high quality products. We stock a wide range of Victoria Carpets products and can also order products in for your perusal. They use a variety of fibres and mixes with their range including 100% wool, 80% wool/20% Polypropylene, a 50/50 split between wool and Polypropylene and finally 100% Polypropylene in their ‘man made' category.

Due to a major leak in our client's home, we were brought in and tasked with the job of supplying and fitting a new floor in a large portion of the home. New flooring needed to be fitted throughout the kitchen, utility room and hall ways. Developing a better understanding of their needs and working closely with the client we were able to help them choose the most suitable flooring for their home. Using a combination of Amtico, hardwood flooring and hard-wearing rugs, we managed to create a floor that was optimised exactly for their family's behaviour and activity.

When your new flooring arrives at our warehouse, we'll contact you to arrange your fitting date. It's worth bearing in mind that some flooring products need to be delivered to your home ahead of your fitting date, so that they can acclimatise to the location. We'll let you know if this is the case. Depending on which additional services you've arranged with us, you may have to make some preparations before your fitter arrives to fit your flooring. If you're not using our dedicated removal services, please move any furniture and remove any old flooring to leaving a clear room ready for the fitting.
