We support people with learning disabilities - known as our Earthworkers - alongside our wonderful volunteers to manage 3.5 acres of beautiful eco-gardens in St Albans. We cultivate fruit, vegetables and ornamental plants using organic principles, and build wildlife habitats. By providing purposeful activity, we develop skills, build confidence, boost health and well-being. We champion social inclusion and sustainability. And 2020 is our 25th anniversary! Earthworks St. Albans is a registered charity that offers Earthworkers, often with learning disabilities, work experience and training in horticultural and nature-based skills.
We offer the opportunity not only to make a contribution to our work, but also to see the impact of your support first-hand, and add value to your business. If you would like to chat about opportunities for a fundraising partnership, we'd love to hear from you! After a busy morning it's time for tea! If the weather is nice we can sit out in the garden, otherwise we can warm up in the cosy Warren building beside the log burning stove. Everyone enjoys a cuppa and a chat together. Everyone has no doubt worked up an appetite following a busy morning out in the gardens! Now we can tuck into our packed lunches that we have brought from home, Earthworks will provide another hot drink. This is a nice time to socialise and have a catch-up with our friends too. Earthworks closes at 3pm.
Apologies for taking so long to comment but I just wanted to say Thank You for the open weekend. I came with my Mum and we had s lovely afternoon and bought done lovely plants. Keep up the good work everyone
I really enjoy going to this charity project. The staff are absolutely brilliant and I enjoy gardening and growing my own vegetables the most. I would definitely recommend it to those who have learning difficulties.
Great place for young people with learning difficulties to learn about gardening and horticulture. We call in every Monday morning for coffee after our Healthwalk and are always made to feel very welcome.
