Planting more pre-trained pleached hornbeam trees in Great Chesterford. Photos show the bamboo support stucture which, in time will help to create a 'sail like' hedge on stilts. Great for improving privacy naturally without resorting to planning permission.
Pruning pleached trees to create an 'espalier' effect. These trees were planted during the summer (see previous post) and provisionally tied-in to the horizontal wires/bamboos but it was felt necessary to do the hard prune (removing in places whole branches) in autumn when the trees are entering.
