We have been awarded Best Bespoke Wooden Kitchens and Furniture Designer, East England, and also Most Innovative Residential Kitchen Project. For the kitchen that won the award Rick was able to work with his client's aspirations, reflect local environmental characteristics into the design detail of the furniture, use new and traditional methods of cabinetmaking, and create a unique solution for his clients' requirements, all with minimal environmental impact.

Our Garden Furniture commissions have ranged from Memorial Benches through to furniture for an award winning garden design at Garden Shows - we enjoy the challenge!

New from Old designs and makes bespoke solid wood furniture for all your living needs, to work with and to relax with. Fitted or freestanding, the solid wood furniture is traditionally built furniture that is functional regardless of whether its design is contemporary or traditional.

New from Old designs and makes solid wood doors, front doors, French doors and internal doors, all traditionally built, and made to measure doors for your home. Most doors commissioned here have been in solid new English Oak, heavy, secure and sound, like doors used to be.

Methods of joinery have evolved through the centuries to give tried and tested cabinetry which withstands the test of time. We employ many of these traditional methods because they work. For instance, all our drawers are fully dovetailed to give strength and durability where it is needed. Where appropriate, marble, slate and tiles, are used for surfaces, splashbacks, decorative detail and dramatic effect. Our environmentally friendly furniture may be finished in a variety of ways from waxed or oiled to lacquered or painted.

These are just some of the examples of the beds, lit-en-bateau, cabin beds, bedside cabinets, chest of drawers, wardrobes and fitted cupboards, that we have been commissioned to make. We have even made an extending double bed for a narrow boat!
