If you intend to lock a building, a shed or a cabinet, you are likely to need a hasp & staple. A hasp and staple is used in combination with a padlock. You should also check the security of the hinges for the shed door. There are many of these hasps on the market, and most are very poor and are easy targets for a thief! This is one of the key reasons why shed crime is on the increase: Shed doors are generally not properly protected! Sheds are often easy targets for thieves and they often contain quite high value items, especially bicycles and quite often several bicycles. It is not that difficult to improve security of sheds and of items within them. If you can keep a thief outside the shed, you've done your job and all internal security is just there as a backup.
A couple of guys had a look at my bike on Thursday night (I found the cover off on Friday morning). It turned out they stole my neighbour's moped.

I just bought a double doofer and 19mm chain along with roundlock from Security For Bikes. The quality of all the items is really impressive and nicely finished.
