We are the longest established landscape architecture practice in the country. Nine decades on the fresh, forward-thinking spirit and strong landscape design principles upon which the practice was founded continue to flourish and drive us forward. The result is a vast, ever expanding, catalogue of work that is always imaginative and sometimes seminal. We are landscape specialists. Our expertise lies in landscape design, planning and management. Our work spans every kind of landscape: public, private, urban, rural, small and large.

We take pride in producing landscape designs that meet commercial objectives with a creative vision and a respect for our natural landscape. The production of LVIAs, design proposals, habitat creation plans and planting strategies have often enabled us to secure planning permission for our clients, marking the beginnings of client partnerships that have occasionally spanned decades. At Gale Common we advised on the creation of a 3km2 artificial hill for the disposal of colliery shale and fuel ash over a 42-year period, from 1962-2004.

We believe that sensitive landscape management is critical to achieving a lasting design vision. Ourwealthof knowledge enables us to effectively translate design intention into practical reality, and maintain it that way. We have produced numerous conservation management plans for historic parks - parks created both by owner-designers and some of the best known professionals, such as Lancelot Brown and William Kent. We also prepare landscape management plans to guide the development of newly created habitats and ornamental landscapes in both rural and urban locations to help ensure that the intentions of our own designs can always be realised.

Landscape Design is ourcore discipline. An innate sensibility toward landscape context, a thoroughunderstanding of the site itself, and the creative vision of our landscape architectsproducesite specific, sustainable landscape designs. From the production of concept plans and detailed designs through to construction detailing and site implementation, we pride ourselves on our creative approach, attention to detail and strong technical ability. We work across a wide range of projects from urban interventions such as the South Steps of the Royal Albert Hall to large rural landscapes like our designs for Castletown Cox in Ireland and our work at Blenheim Palace.
