Paul Johal is the project manager for this company, I think he is the owner as well. He seems quite pleasant at first, but gets angry and aggressive when I asked him questions. I'm not sure if I trust him because I've caught him out on a few lies he's told me. I'm thinking of cancelling the contract, but he's threatened me with legal action when I approached him about it, so not sure what to do now.
I've paid him 18,598 for my dormer conversion but all he has done so far is the scaffolding. He's demanding more money which I haven't paid yet, but the whole project is costing 95,897.85 and that's without the decorating. I'm not sure what to do now.

Touchstone Lofts eventually built our Loft and we have had numerous problems with them, before, during, and after. They delay the jobs, charge for hidden extras, and are just underhand. The owner has no customer skills whatsoever - he's just rude and aggressive. Though we rarely write reviews, we feel it is important to warn others of how difficult Touchstone Lofts South Ltd can be to work with, more specifically the owner.
Our neighbours across the street started a loft conversion a month after us, and used a different company. They finished, having paid 20k less than us, and are very happy with the work... Unlike us. Please take heed!

Touchstone managed the almost impossible! We were told by 3 other companies that we wouldnt be able to convert our loft due to low ridge height, but Paul and his team not only managed it theyve made a beautiful space for my daughter. Very professional and courteous staff, nothing was too much trouble. Issues discussed and resolved quickly. Would highly recommend

Overall the works from Touchstone to convert our loft were good. We were invited to their showroom before starting where we could look at some options and think about a few details. The job was a little longer than expected but in some cases it was due to the covid situation. The staff involved was kind and offered solutions when needed. The final result was in line with our expectations as well as few changes we requested along the way; overall we are happy with how the rooms look like.
Few things to point out where we see room to improve:
- after the construction of the dormer frame, it was not perfect the timing management between the jobs of the professionals we brought in (tiler and decorator) and the contractors from Touchstone. We would have appreciated a better project management in those phases.
- from time to time we felt the pressure to pay bills while the jobs were not completed yet or in some cases the extra charges look excessive.
- in the last days of work, there was an excessive rush in finishing it and there was no chance to look at some details in more depth. As the snagging was delayed, we had to call in the decorator who had to fix few of them he was not responsible for.
