We operate a Quality Management System which complies with the requirements of ISO 14001:2004 for Architectural Design and Technical Services. We remain mindful of the benefits enjoyed by children, teachers and school staff when surrounded by appropriate environments. Within the context of a primary school, teaching and learning are not confined to internal spaces but include external spaces also. HOCA are mindful of the requirement for wall-space within teaching areas and radiators do not assist in this respect.
Within HOCA we have the capacity to engage directly with the Structural and Building Services Engineers to form part of the more immediate design services where the client prefers.

Significant emphasis is placed on Sustainability, Renewable and Low Carbon Technology Options which include Biomass Heating, and Photovoltaics. HOCA are very familiar with the requirements of BREEAM in relation to Local Authority Projects and especially Schools and Education projects. We are constantly engaged in high-profile social infrastructure projects where our introduction of Green Roof Technology plays a significant role in enhancing the aesthetics of the building, and seeks to ensure that the planning approval process is less arduous.

For most scenarios a 'Feasibility Study' is an appropriate way forward as it allows all potential Design Options to be identified. Subsequent to further consultation with stakeholders an appropriate Design Solution will evolve. The essence of our Feasibility Studies will embed the objectives set out in the various Building Bulletins in relation to education projects.
