Windridge Coatings are owners of the branded Tri-Resin powder Coat System. Approved Powder Coaters for Architectural powder coating, aluminium, galvanised and steel. Innovation - Over three decades, we pioneered powder coating on large heavy objects. Developed corrosion inhibitors, designed ovens, conveyor tracks and industry-leading powder coating brands such as Tri-Resin™, New Life Recoat™ and patented the Warm to Touch Powder Coating™ System.

For over thirty years we have applied the Tri-Resin™ powder coating system directly onto mild steel without the galvanising or hot metal spray because our system does not require it. We have railings close to us 200 metres from the sea that are still look good after 15 years. The Tri-Resin™ powder coating system is a process that offers the best possible quality for small and large structural galvanised or non-galvanised steel work. For powder coating mild steel, the Tri-Resin System is the way of the future.

With our stripping, and blasting facilities, we were asked if we could strip some old fencing panels surrounding part of Dover Castle. In June 2005 over 130 panels had the pitted steel blasted back to grey metal, the Tri-Resin System (steel) was applied using RAL 9005 30%. This is three paint resins applied over a metal pre-treatment. The Tri-Resin System using the best architectural products available can also be applied over Galvanised Steel and Aluminium. Shepherd Neame specially commissioned commemorative gate.

Powder coating motorcycle frames is ideal for renovating, rebuilding and restorations on bikes. We enjoy one of the country's best reputations for powder coating motorbike frames. We have been renovating by stripping and powder coating classic motorbike frames for rebuilds to the highest standards since 1986. Bikes rebuilt to Concours standards like a 1914 Douglas one of only three in the country or £45,000 plus Vincents. For over thirty years, we have powder coated classic bikes for clubs, enthusiasts and professionals.

Although powder coating has been commercially available since the '60s, it is still misunderstood. It looks like regular paint but it is tougher and more weather resistant. What makes it different is the way it is applied without solvents, so is considered more environmentally friendly. There is a belief that repairing powder coating on site cannot be done, rendering it impractical to use. This is not true; it can be washed, polished and touched in or repainted if extensively damaged. If you would like Windridge Coatings to quote for powder coating repairs please contact us.

Removing thick paint built up over years by hand is nearly impossible on fire surrounds or fire places because much of it is inaccessible with machine tools. Paint stripping and grit blasting is the best way to remove to remove the paint to expose the detail of the casting. If you are getting the cast fireplace blasted it would be sensible to get it professionally painted. Powder coating is the best when applied properly, because it has the ability to wrap round the metal due to its electrostatic attraction.

We do not stock all the colours shown in these charts. Unlike liquid paints which can be blended at a mixing station, powder paint goes through many expensive stages before it is ground to a useable powder (about the same consistency as talcum powder). We stock over 200 colours for our everyday use. Each box of powder usually weighs 20kg and has an approximate value of a 145. Before powder coating, all painting was liquid based and in the UK used British Standard colour schemes BS 318C and BS4800.

Powder coating is like all painting in that a good finish is reliant on good preparation. This section shows the different stages of preparation. It will explain the importance of blasting the metal clean to produce better paint adhesion. It shows how the paint life expectancy is improved by using corrosion inhibitors and better quality powder coatings. The graphic shows an example of a 200mm diameter post that arrived from the fabricator rusty. It was blasted to SA2.5 and our Tri-Resin™ Powder Coat was applied.

A good example of our work is the award winning Quarterhouse Folkestone a centre for performing arts. The building is decoratively clad in powder coated aluminium. Being visually stunning, it presented technical difficulties as the perforation process produced sharp edges that should normally be avoided as they can be weakness for corrosion. Windridge Coatings are owners of the branded Tri-Resin powder Coat System. This method of painting is approved for Architectural powder coating. An IGP Class 2 polyester powder system was used for better protection on the Folkestone Quarter House.

Since 1997, new products, techniques and attitudes have been introduced to the architectural market, improving the performance of powder coatings for external use, to the point where galvanising under powder coating is not always necessary. Windridge Coatings applies the Tri-ResinSystem on all architectural steelwork. Projects using this system have now been in the field since 2003 and are still offering good protection. On average 180 microns of paint is applied giving a thick lustre coating that also offers more protection then the normal 60-micron coat (the industrial standard).

It is not the responsibility of Windridge Coatings to check the customer's work is fit for painting. However, our attitude has always been, a lot of money is spent on the painting, and if we can repair a bent rail, or broken weld we will do it, often without the customers knowledge, if we can't we'll let you know. We will always let you know if a trend of bad workmanship has taken place. For example: welds on railings that have not penetrated, or components that are tacked, but should be fully welded.

In 2003 we removed our 8-stage chromate pre-treatment system, operated to BS6496 and adopted an alternative Qualicoat approved system. Due to our reputation with a large box oven, the sizes of the work we were asked to process were larger then our pre-treatment tanks. The replacement pre-treatment incorporates chromate solution in an acrylic resin, which encapsulates the treated metal. We are now able to pre-treat and powder coat large aluminium components as long as they will fit in our box oven 11m x 4m x 3m.

Reading this page means that painting is important to you. This is sensible as the finish can make or break a product and a reputation. Windridge Coatings can assist with an appropriate powder coating specification for the working environment, however it is still useful to have a working knowledge.

The Tri-Resin powder coat System is ideal for anything that requires a tough, corrosion resistant paint finish. We are happy to offer our services to private customers. Your work will be carried out to the same high quality as our commercial work.

As an established powder coater in Kent, we have expertise in most fields of powder coating. Large steel work is powder coated in our big oven, able to powder coat 8m, 9m, 10m, 11m, up to 12m lengths. This is mainly used for structural steel, balcony uprights and staircases.
