Dry stone walls use earth as a mortar. Dry stone walls can be made from slate, granite or other types of stone. Hammered granite is supplied as roughly broken blocks. The shapes vary and there is a degree of skill required to fit the stones together neatly when only earth is being used to bind them together. The picture to the right shows a dry stone wall built in Devon on the edge of Dartmoor. We sell three types of slate dry stone walling stone: The solution we recommend for DIY use or where the best quality is required is our Medium Walling Stone.

Real natural stone paving is the best choice available for your garden. With a variety of patio paving colours in granite, slate and sandstone in a range of convenient sizes you can find the perfect materials to make your garden look wonderful. Patio paving slabs can be used for both internal and external paving.

These are our slate steps. Fantastic for use in tiered gardens or as a grand entrance to your house. The steps come in different sizes and we may be able to cut the steps to a specific measurement if needed. They can be used for any exterior applications including sills and steps, and we can cut them to any size you require.

There are hundreds of choices available to you in the use of slate walling and hedging stone. The slate walling stone varies depending on its geology, colour, dimensions, age and how it has been finished. When you use slate, one of the most important considerations is the person who builds it. A high quality stone can be ruined by bad building and a good stone mason can turn an average quality stone into a beautiful piece of building work. When you choose stone for your building work you should choose carefully.
