We stayed in the centre of Alnmouth in October; the apartment was in first class order, fully equipped, and almost a home from home. We've holidayed in the town before, but Pope's Lodge is the best place we have found to date. It's an area that abounds in walks so it's easy to find one that suits the mood. As for eating out, the area has a selection of pubs and restaurants that surprised us at first, but now just makes choosing one difficult. Try the Old Boat House at Amble, or the Jolly Fisherman at Craster, oh and on the way up (if you are coming from the south) The Running Fox at Felton for a bite of lunch. The list goes on. (Barter's Books in Alnwick - books and bacon butties) All this before talking about the scenery and sites. See you next year.
We have just spent a week in Honeysuckle cottage in Norham, our first visit to Northumberland and it certainly won't be our last. The cottage was top notch and Norham was a lovely place to stay(so friendly) with great bakers, butchers and a very dog friendly pub The Mason's Arms(great food). We have all said there is so much to see and a week was not long enough, so we will have to return. So glad I discovered Northumbria Coast &Country Cottages, won't hesitate to recommend.
