Fascias run along the length of the lower edge of the roof, covering and protecting the roof rafters from the elements. Soffits are fitted beneath the fascias, designed to keep small creatures from entering the roof. Gutters are usually attached directly to the fascia. Mostly, these fixtures are made of pvc which is easy to maintain and keep clean, although older houses may have wooden fascias or metal gutters and downpipes.
