Surrey Oak Barns offer conceptual design advice at the early stage of your project to ensure the initial brief can be developed and the optimum solution can be achieved in terms of design, location and budget consideration. Surrey Oak Barns scope of design services has no limits. To compliment our projects we offer a full interior design and product specification / selection service, which includes but is not limited to electrical, lighting, heating, plumbing, kitchens, bathrooms, floor and wall design finish.
We carry out the installation of the foundations, brickwork and oversites to the satisfaction of the local authority building control department and structural engineer's specification. We will ensure the dimensional accuracy of the groundworks to suit the oak framed building. In many cases retaining walls are required to accommodate changes in levels or to reclaim land currently within a bank or slope. We design all our retaining walls to suit the site specific conditions and can construct part of the barn to act as the retaining wall as well as the building envelope, if required.
Surrey Oak Barns own skilled craftsmen assemble the barns which means you are assured of the highest level of quality and co-ordination that comes from years of experience in both project management and construction, and by craftsmen who delight in working with oak. The assembly team and equipment employed vary greatly depending on the scale of a project. Typically a simple oak framed garage, summer room or workshop can be erected complete with pitched rafters ready to receive roof tiling on a completed foundation in 5 days.
We offer a variety of finishes in new or reclaimed tiles, slate or cedar shingles. All our roof coverings are carefully selected to match if necessary any existing property. On completion we will install the guttering and down pipes. The selection of the roof covering is one of the most important decisions to be made as the finish needs to blend with the surrounding buildings but at the same time look harmonious with the oak barn. We invest a considerable amount of energy in providing samples and advice to our clients to ensure this important decision is appropriately made.
All our buildings are designed to comply with current building regulations and we are happy to liaise with your local authority building control department or use a contracted consultant building inspector throughout the process. Surrey Oak Barns will make the necessary building control applications, agree the project specifications, co-ordinate the various inspections and obtain the completion certificate on your behalf. All our oak frames are subjected to rigorous third party engineering analysis for structural validity, and the structural calculations will be sent to you for retention and forwarded to the building control officer where required.

Surrey Oak Barns will undertake the construction of retaining walls and boundary fencing, any associated driveway modifications and installation of fencing and gates, as part of the project; all finished in a material of your choice.
