We help employers to protect employees by checking control measures, monitoring Workplace Exposure Limits and identifying exposure to substances that cause occupational cancer or asthma. Controlling substances hazardous to health is the law. In the UK, respiratory-related diseases and conditions account for the third-largest work-related illness. Those most affected are; metal plate workers, vehicle body builders, plumbers, gas fitters, carpenters and bakers. People are exposed to substances every day, but certain professions are more at risk of being exposed than others, for example, dusty or fume-laden environments, quarries, metal finishers and woodworking factories.

IOM is a leading provider of expert witnessevidence for civil litigation cases in Scotland, England and the Republic of Ireland. Our extensive and highly experienced team have provided the court with independent and authoritative evidence over a uniquely wide range of areas in environmental health and safety, including dust and noise impact assessments, environmental impact assessments and planning appeals. We employ a number of highly qualified and experienced environmental consultants who can provide the Courts or Planning Inquiries with expert witness evidence in relation to noise and dust emissions from proposed roads, quarries and open cast mining sites.
