Green Heat Wales supply, install, commission and maintain both solar thermal and solar pv systems. We are accredited by the Microgenertion Certification Scheme or MCS for short, for both types of solar. Solar to supply Hot Water is known as Solar Thermal. This type of system uses solar panels or tubes which are fitted to a roof or wall. These collectors, gain heat from the sun and use it to heat up your water, in a solar specific hot water cylinder. If you can not generate enough hot water from the sun, you can use a your boiler or immersion heater to top up the cylinder.
Air source heat pumps absorb heat from the air outside which is then used to heat your radiators and hot water and also any underfloor heating systems in your home. It works very much like a fridge in that it extracts heat from its inside. Even if the temperature outside is -15C an air source heat pump can still get heat from the air. They work by delivering heat at lower temperatures over much longer periods. A unit is fixed to an outside wall and it will need plenty of space to enable the system to get a good flow of air.
