Dating back to 1956, we are a traditional firm of builders with our roots as a family-run business but with our eyes firmly on the future. Our strength lies in the services offered by our highly-dedicated and well-trained workforce, both to the residential and commercial sectors. Our extensive portfolio ranges from residential properties for individuals or developers, through to commercial properties for local authorities, hospitals, housing associations, schools, businesses and many others. Based in Great Blakenham near Ipswich in Suffolk, we have an excellent reputation for completing projects to time, to budget and to an extremely high standard of workmanship.
The company was founded in circa 1956 by Ronald Elliston, Ronald Steady and Stanley Hawes and began initially by constructing houses in the Eastern region. Over the years we have continued to expand by providing a range of services to the commercial market. In the 1960's, we relocated to our current premises at Great Blakenham, where we added a purpose-built joinery shop from where we provide high quality purpose-made joinery. We started our Aluminium division to provide architectural products for our own in-house contracts and as a specialist sub-contractor for other local companies.
In recent years, we have partnered with Orwell Housing, Shaftesbury Housing Association, Flagship Housing Developments, Havebury Housing, Hastoe Housing Association, Suffolk Heritage Housing Association, and Iceni Homes, completing several residential homes and sheltered housing schemes throughout the region. From extensions to offices, churches and schools, through to major refurbishment projects, such as the restoration of a fire damaged beamed property in Colchester, Elliston Steady & Hawes is proud to work alongside architects, developers and private clients to produce solutions that make a real difference to the local community.
The majority of our work uses extruded aluminium produced by Kawneer, a recognised leader in the field. Our portfolio includes some of the most prestigious buildings in the south and east of the UK, encompassing all types of window, door, screen framing and curtain walling, alongside specialist knowledge of sloped roof glazing, structural silicone glazing and blast enhanced systems. The key to our success is that we work alongside you every step of the way. We directly employ our specialist fitters, estimators and designers, who take great pride in attention to detail and delivering an excellent service.
