Osborne Woodcare is one of the leading names in wooden floor restoration and we have been providing floor sanding services in Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas for 7 years. We guarantee outstanding results and our team are dedicated to ensuring that our loyal customers receive the best service possible. Our floor restoration methods have been tested and we know what it takes to return your wooden flooring back to its original glory. Our team have a wealth of experience and have worked on every type of wood floor, with every finish, multiple times in their many years in this trade.

The customers had just bought the house and discovered a Herringbone Parquet floor underneath the carpet. The previous owners hadnt mentioned it and they didnt know until they had bought the house. They called us for a quote and we were happy to tell them it was Mahogany! The floor was also in good condition, that is to say, the blocks were almost all glued down firmly and there was no major damage. The first image shows the floor as it was found, old worn out varnish and surface damage. In the second picture we had started the rough grit floor sanding.

Knebworth is prime stomping ground for Osborne Woodcare. Infact Knebworth alone accounts for a sizeable chunk of our business. The new village of Knebworth, developed in the late 19th century, tends to be a rather affluent area. This, combined with its inhabitants enjoyment of a small country village lifestyle, makes wood floors and rustic decor a popular theme in the area. We have sanded quite a variation of floors there in a wide range of woods and formations. We have just finished a jumbo fingerblock oak parquet floor.

Engineered wood flooring is becoming more and more popular. As these floors age, clients regularly ask if sanding engineered wood flooring is possible. Some floor sanding contractors refuse to sand and refinish engineered flooring for fear of sanding through the hardwood wear layer to the ply substrate, but does this mean that it's too risky to sand engineered flooring at all? I should certainly hope not! Manufacturers sell this flooring with the assurance that "you can sand these floors 1-4 times."

Osborne Woodcare has served many homes in Radlett and continues to do so. We find that there is a very high percentage of parquet floors and other exotic wood strip floors in Radlett, when compared to other near by affluent areas such as St. Albans, where we most often sand pine floor boards. We believe this is due to the major development of Radlett having started at the end of the 19th century. In that sense Radlett is quite young. We believe that floor sanding creates the most beautiful floors.

Today we are posting a show case of a floor we recently sanded in Harpenden. This is also the first blog post we are posting that includes floor staining, as many people have been asking for pictures of other staining work we have done. There were 2 floors, the living room which was tongue and groove pine floor boards, and the hallway which had origional oak flooring (judging by the aging of the wood it was 100+ years old). We started by removing the chipboard and white filler in the hallway and nailing down loose boards all over.

Not only do we have state of the art machinery to make the very most of your parquet floor, we also use these machines with scarcely known methods to produce incredible results. With years of experience in parquet restoration, we tailor our floor sanding method to suit your floor. We take into account wood species, pattern and level of damage. This allows us to provide a finish that is flat, smooth and damage-free, all while removing as little wood as possible. As a part of our service, we use the fine dust created during the sanding process, to mix with a transparent resin and trowel into the whole floor, filling all the gaps between the blocks.

Floor sanding and restoring wooden floors back to their former glory is what Osborne Woodcare, Wood Floor Sanding do best. A team of dedicated craftsmen whose high quality work will ensure that your floors look their best. So many people peel back carpets only to see dirty wooden floors underneath, but with wood floor sanding specialists these dirty wooden floors will be transformed into a focal point in your home. If you are thinking about having a wood floor sanding job done, it is important to achieve a top class finish, as your old wooden floor when expertly restored could actually increase the value of your property.

The client had 2 floors and was actually unsure if this floor would come up very well because it looked so old and tatty (as you can see in the pictures below). We assured her that it would look fantastic and that the surfact was no indication of the wood just 1 or 2 millimetres beneath the surface. We started (as we often do) sanding diagonally to level the floor. This is slightly more agressive than sanding with the grain of the wood which will get out all the dents, scratches and worn out surface of the floor quicker.

At a time when traditional craftsmanship and skills developed over a lifetime of experience is becoming rarity we offer a quality service in offices, shops, residential, retail and commercial properties in Hertfordshire. We can undertake all aspects of repairs and, because of the quality of the machinery we use, we can even work on engineered boards. Also we restore normal floorboards and we can restore your wooden staircase too! We have been restoring flooring to its natural beauty for years in Hertfordshire and have wide experience of working in commercial, residential, hotels, pubs, restaurants, nightclubs, schools, colleges, on sports floors, in leisure complexes, offices, shops, retail outlets and libraries.

Dinning room floor just finished and it looks amazing. A great job and super professional. Thank you.

Just to say that Osborne Woodcare did a wonderful job on my hall - 11 years of all sorts of products had been used on the floor and they managed to.

If you are thinking of having you floorboards sanded and stained look no further than these guys, total professionals from start to finish, on both.

What's new?

I refinished my own floors late last year, decided I want it the best kind of natural: oil based primer and polyurethane based top coats. Namely Bona Craft Oil 2k Natural and Bona Traffic HD in matte. I'm really happy with it! I'm posting this as it accompanied my latest YouTube video. Check it out.

Hit like if you love this wood! I have a problem with only posting special floors, I need to put up more of the stuff we do every day. But in the mean time look at this beaut. I think it's smoked oak but it didn't behave like smoked oak during the sanding. They had a sample which said oak but, .

If you really want high definition grain and stunning vibrance on a natural finish, you need an oil based primer. This solid oak floor was coated in #bona Craft Oil 2k then overcoated with Bona Traffic HD Natural which has a 6-8% sheen, designed to make the floor look unfinished. I say this with a.
