Laminate Wood
We supply and fit a variety of laminate woods and are very experienced in the installation of this field. Laminate can also be fitted neatly if you were to have your skirtings removed so you wouldn’t have to have scotia around the edge of the room and against the skirtings. The reason for this is because there has to be a certain gap left around the edge to allow for expansion and shrinkage this is to cover that and make it look as neat and professional as possible. Where it may not be possible or ideal for you to remove the skirtings the gap can still be covered over with scotia around the edge, this still looks professional and is still a practical way of installation.
Vinyl
Vinyl is also a popular choice of floor covering and also comes in a great variety of patterns and printed designs. Vinyl also has to have a smooth surface on your subfloor to maintain a prolonged life in your home. Domestic vinyl is also classed as a cushion floor as it has a slight bounce when your push on it. You do have to be careful of furniture dragging on it as this could potentially drag and rip the vinyl floor covering, it is usually advised by the fitters to use felt pads for the bottom of any furniture you wish to have on a vinyl.
Carpets
Carpet is still a popular choice of floor covering to this very day. Carpet fitted to the correct standard will last longer and wear slower providing it has been fitted to the correct standard. It is always best to change your underlay and gripper when having a new carpet fitted as this will also prolong the life and warranty from the manufacture. Carpet comes in your original wool pile and also man made fibres (polypropylene). The man made fibres are easier to clean but don't always last as long as a wool carpet.
Floor Preparation
Floor preparation is extremely important when having a new floor covering on it. The installer would need to test your floor for dampness, blemishes and repair work before any preparation can go ahead. If you have a wooden subfloor and having a vinyl, luxury vinyl or laminate floor it is extremely important that the floor is smooth and free from any blemishes and would need to have a plywood over the top of it to be done in the correct way. If you have a concrete floor you would need to make sure it also is smooth and blemish free for your floor coverings.
Luxury Vinyl Tile
Luxury vinyl tiles look totally amazing when installed correctly. There are alot of things to take into consideration when you are interested in having this floor covering installed. Your installer would have to ensure that the floor is of correct relative humidity to proceed to the installation process first. If this is missed off of the checklist so to speak this can lead up to a failure after the installation has taken place. Once the humidity has been checked and the installer is happy to proceed your floor will have to be prepared to ensure the floors surface is smooth and free from blemishes and contaminates.
