Vinyl flooring is made up of three layers: The top layer is the waterproof and slip resistant layer, this is designed to be hygienic and easy to clean, the middle layer holds the design and the bottom layer is the polyester backing designed to give you a quiet, warm and comfortable product. All subfloors must be smooth, level, clean and free of any contaminants including wood preservatives so the subfloor where the vinyl is going may require screed or plywood.
