Our business was founded in 1975 when we opened our original furnishing store in Caterham Surrey. Response was immediately overwhelming and we enjoyed several years of product growth before opening our second store in Haywards Heath West Sussex in 1985 and still trade in Haywards Heath today. We have continued to supply home furnishings to repeat and referral clients for 45 years offering the very best personal service that is required in bespoke home furnishings. We remain an independent family owned & run business specialising in Interior Design and quality home furnishings.
We can re-upholster anything & have made the most amazing transformations from junk shop finds into superbly re-finished pieces of bespoke upholstery. Re-upholstery is the most cost effective way of having a bespoke fabric on a piece of quality furniture. A quality sofa from Kingcome Sofas will cost approximately 5000 + 15mtrs of fabric, whilst re-upholstering an existing sofa will be around 1400 + the fabric, a huge saving. For new upholstery we have several options: firstly you can choose from a range of stock designs from our very reasonable supplier Pekalp.

We have been making top quality, hand finished curtains & soft furnishings for nearly 40 years & strive to provide the very best products possible. We use only the best local seamstresses we can find & make sure they stay, providing a bright, well equipped workroom within the showroom to work in. This allows us to quality control every step of the project, something that is simply not possible if sending clients curtains to cheap, third party workrooms/sweatshops in Lancashire or North Wales. Our staff are British, pay their taxes & work very hard; we are very proud of them all.
We have been selling wallcoverings for over 50 years, there's not a lot we don't know. With this wealth of experience we can advise on which products will give you the best result; why pay for a cheaper product that will shrink back, peel, fade & be a nightmare to hang when there are far better quality products that will out perform in every way. Decorators aren't cheap and decent experienced paperhangers can pretty much command then own prices, but even they will struggle to get a quality result with a poor quality product.
We have sold quality paints since 1975 and have seen many brands come and go in that time. We now exclusively sell Zoffany fine quality paints due to their superior coverage, colours and finish. A totally flat matt emulsion complimented by acrylic & oil based eggshell finishes are available in a palette of 128 colours and reflects the demand for subtlety in tone and the ability to match colour perfectly to the soft furnishings within the scheme. Tints of some of Zoffany's most popular neutrals have been introduced to the range to give a wider and more comprehensive choice when decorating an interior.

Our Haywards Heath showroom has many table lamps on display/in stock but generally we order new lamps in as we can then provide bespoke shades & appropriate plug options etc. Porta Romana have the finest collection of exquisite & exclusive lighting available in the world. Totally designed & manufactured by hand in Surrey, quality is assured & style is inherent.
