In 1949 Alan Bowers and Ernest Rooke combined their respective upholstery and woodworking skills to begin making high quality award winning upholstered furniture. Two generations later, Bowers and Rooke furniture is still manufactured in Long Eaton to the same exacting standards with exemplary attention to detail. As all our furniture is handmade on site; we are able to vary the dimensions from those listed above to suit your individual requirements. We hold a large selection of fabric books together with leather swatches by leading suppliers from which you can choose.
A good foundation is necessary to create a first class product and in our case the foundation is the wooden frame. When company founder Ernest Rooke designed a new piece of furniture he always designed the frame first. The frames are constructed locally using European beech and birch from renewable sources (rather than softwood which is used in mass production furniture). It arrives on site as sawn logs which are seasoned for several months before being cross-cut, planed and then hand shaped to form the individual components of each piece of furniture.
