We are a small well established business located in the village of White Waltham, just on the outskirts of Maidenhead in Berkshire and very close to Windsor. In our fully equipped workshop, we offer a bespoke furniture making and restoration service. In addition to general furniture making we also carry out the art of chairmaking. We can make exact copies of chairs from the original to complete or extend sets. This along with our vast stocks of period timber, veneer, locks, handles, castors and other brass fittings we are able to offer a full restoration service to customers antique furniture, at very competitive price.

Where absolutely necessary, we will strip the piece of furniture and repolish it using traditional shellac based polish, but this is only done where the original surface has gone beyond redemption. This is normally caused by excessive heat or exposure to direct sunlight, or spillages such as water or alcohol.

The ultimate aim when restoring a piece of antique furniture is to restore it to the condition that it would have been in had it been well looked after all its life. The perfect veneer patch would be one that can't be seen! We undertake a wide range of restoration projects on items of furniture dating from the early 18th Century through to the 20th Century. All our work is done sympathetically with particular emphasis on retaining the original patina wherever possible. However, should it be absolutely necessary to strip and sand a piece for whatever reason (we've had some fantastic pieces of period furniture that have even been painted over the years) we can chemically bleach the surface, age it, shade it and re-polish it to an authentic colour and finish.

Whether it may be a cabinet to fit into a particular alcove, or a television cabinet to blend in with your existing period furniture, a modern piece designed by an interior designer or an idea you may have but are unsure how it could be made, we can help. Each piece is made to the highest standards boasting hand cut joints and traditional construction methods perfected over centuries. We use a variety of seasoned hardwoods from all over the world, so if you want a modern light coloured appearance we could use the likes of Canadian maple or, if a more traditional look is what you require, we could use something like Brazilian mahogany.
