An Air Source Heat Pump is a type of heat pump that extracts the heat directly from the surrounding air and transfers this heat to a usable heat for heating your home and water. The air source heat pump is therefore relatively simple to install as it only requires connection to a single flow and return similar to standard heating systems. By design, an air source pump is most suited to an external location, where it can have access to free-flowing air with which to interact, though systems can be designed to use air ducted from external sources or air recovery systems.
A Ground Source Heat Pump collects heat from beneath the ground (ground source) and convert this energy into usable heat which can be pumped around a heating system to provide warmth and comfort to any property. A ground source heat pump will have 2 systems running alongside each other - one for the collection of the heat (from the ground) and one for the distribution of the heat (to your home/property). Heat is collected in a ground source heat pump system by a pressurised network of pipes running through the ground and absorbing the heat stored in the ground as it passes through.

Back in March 2024 we had a ASHP, loft/ceiling insulation and solar panels fitted by Menai Heating under the EC04 grant. We were initially very sceptical about changing from our old LPG gas boiler, but it was coming to the end of its life and was too expensive to run. From the very first phone call I made to Menai Heating I was impressed, no pushy sales talk, just lots of advice. I can’t believe how straight forward the process was, once the initial survey was done and the grant approved, Erin rang and arranged all the install dates. Steve looked after the installation from beginning to end. He visited before they started and went through everything with us, answering all our questions and making sure everything ran smoothly. I honestly cannot believe how clean and tidy they were considering the amount of work carried out. The plumbers were fantastic and listened to all my concerns about the pipe work and were unbelievably tidy. Osian went through everything with us and made sure everything was running smoothly. My electric bill has stayed about the same BUT I have no gas bill and am no longer lighting the wood burner every night, most importantly the whole house has never been so warm and cosy. I cannot recommend Menai Heating enough, the standard of work, care and understanding was fantastic. They have given us a warm house at half the cost of running the old gas boiler and wood burner. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Great company, our house wasnt the easiest to convert but they bent over backwards to get the job done the insulation they installed is brilliant made such a difference to the cottage part of our house. The plumbers and electricians were professional friendly and efficient. The job they did was excellent and they returned to put a minor problem right immediately Special mention to all the office staff who put up with all my worries and questions . All in all I have no hesitation in recommending this firm and if you want Eco 4 use this firm you won't regret it..
Great, professional company. Carried out lots of plumbing work at our house, including moving the boiler/heating system from one room into another. Also fantastic communication with the office staff.
