We carry out installations of both domestic and commercial general plumbing, bathroom installations, district heating networks, Wood Burning Solid Fuel Wet & Dry Systems, Rainwater Harvesting, and Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery Systems. For nearly ten years Navitas has been designing and installing renewable heating systems and carrying out plumbing installations on a broad range of projects; offering efficient, personal and a complete end-to-end service package.

Navitas SHS Ltd was founded in 2007 by brothers, Tom and Edd Medlicott, when they observed a client demand for clear, honest, independent advice regarding installation of non-fossil fuel heating systems, whilst building and designing eco-homes with their respective Somerset-based building and architectural companies; Thomas & Thomas Building Contractors and Orme Architecture. Since then, Navitas has grown into a multi-discipline company, offering a range of sustainable heating technologies and plumbing services.

Essentially operating as a fridge in reverse, a heat pump takes heat from the outside and releases it indoors, where a refrigerator takes heat from inside and releases it outside. The refrigerant technology within a heat pump allows the unit to produce up to 4 units of heat for every unit of electricity consumed by running the unit, making them a very efficient, cost-effective means of providing space and water heating.

This rainwater is then either pumped back to the property via a filter and can be used for washing clothes or flushing toilets, or plumbed to supply garden taps for garden uses or car washing. If the system is designed to provide indoor supplies, a mains water supply is plumbed to top-up the storage tank in the event that it runs dry. The rainwater supplies must be plumbed separately from the mains supply, and due to the alterations required to the plumbing a Rainwater Harvesting System is best installed when building a property, or carrying out significant renovation works.

Navitas carries out general plumbing installations; boilers, bathroom installations, heating and hot-water circuits and underfloor heating for both domestic and commercial new-build developments, extensions, conversions and renovations. We either work through building contractors, or directly for the client.
