There is a huge benefit of allowing natural light into industrial and commercial buildings. The natural light entering the building can reduce the cost of artificial lighting whilst making the existing building appear more attractive and provides a better working environment for staff. Rooflights on an existing building can easily become damaged and often brittle due to ultra violet degradation. The harmful UV rays of the sun attack the roof lights over a number of years which can result in them warping and breaking down which allows them to leak.
Following on from our inspection the new roofing system will be designed and tailor made to your building and there are a number of options with various guarantee periods depending on each individual client's requirements. The felting systems can either be Hot or fully cold applied depending on the clients requirements. Our specialist operatives are experienced and fully trained in all of our roofing systems. Our service is to attend site very quickly from the initial enquiry in order to carry out a free of charge full diagnostic survey of the area, which results with an in depth inspection and report being provided at no cost with digital photographs, options and costs for the proposed work.
The existing roof is stripped and removed from site, asbestos sheeting is placed in specialist asbestos skips with the client receiving the relevant consignment paperwork. The sheets are removed whilst operatives are using full PPE and the building below. Asbestos sheeted buildings are air monitored for asbestos airborne particles as part of our service. A new built up steel sheeted roof consisting of an internal lining panel, rail system, insulation and a new external steel plastisol coated profile top sheet is then installed.
A common problem with industrial roofs is where the internal gutters are leaking. These gutters tend to come in three metre interlocking sections and therefore there are joints every three metres. Due to thermal movement within the building and ageing the gutter joints can open up allowing rainwater to ingress. We therefore install the Plygene gutter line system which usually is a jointless one piece liner which has the benefit of lining the entire length of gutter in one section. This then fully encapsulates the entire internal face of the guttering thus making it watertight.
