Established in 1976, County Thatchers Ltd is a reputable company offering renewal, repairs and refurbishment of thatched buildings. We cover all aspects of thatched buildings and cater to mainly residential properties in Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties. Here at County Thatchers Ltd, we work closely with our customers throughout all projects undertaken. At County Thatchers Ltd, we provide great customer service. We also pride ourselves on our environmental ethos as we recycle 95% of our waste materials.

County Thatchers Ltd provides an experienced service in long straw, combed wheat reed and water reed. Quality is very important in thatching and its benefits are ensured by quality materials alongside quality craftsmanship. With proper maintenance your thatched roof can both withstand the elements and last its full expected life. Traditionally in thatched cottages the roofs have a lot of advantages. Thatching saves energy, provides good insulation, keeps the house cool in the summer, warm in the winter and also improves the aesthetic appeal of your property and the surrounding area.

What's new?

Only partially through this current job but it's going well despite the time of year and the weather.

Finished working on this little cottage today, which has been rethatched on the back elevation and reridged both sides. A simple ridge pattern but very effective and definitely suited the property.

This is something you don't want to find in your #thatched roof, but unfortunately for this Squirrel it got trapped and died. A small patch needed to be done and removed the unlucky Squirrel and hopefully no more damage will to the #thatch.

Another job finished today. I've been working on this little cottage and replacing the old ridge with a new flush ridge along with new wire netting. Also had to recap the chimney and fit a new pot with bird guards added to stop the local Jackdaws from nesting in them.

Another load of scrap wire netting loaded up to take for recycling. A few years ago it would've ended up in landfill as the scrap metal dealers wouldn't take it, but now they do, which is great for the environment!
