Richard Kay's practice was formed in 1986. Projects mostly concern existing buildings for individual private clients, commercial and community organisations, and local authorities. Work is also occasionally commissioned by other architectural and surveying practices and building contractors. Major repairs and conversion of derelict old dairy in South Tottenham to office/studio for music-industry advertising agency. Maintaining daylight and privacy was particularly difficult as the site was land-locked within terraces of shops and housing. Works included successful party wall negotiations with 11 adjoining owners. The client agency employed building tradesmen directly and the normal architectural service expanded to administration of ordering plant and materials.
