Our mission at HLW is to question the norm, design with passion, and build what's next. We were established in 1885 and have continuously evolved to stay at the forefront of architecture and design. From designing the first dedicated telephone building in New York City to our current work with mega tech companies, HLW has a legacy of combining elegant aesthetics with innovative technologies. We like to say at HLW that our work tells your story. With this in mind, we avoid a 'one size fits all' approach.
The Landscape Architecture Studio is a group of landscape architects, planners, and architects providing quality, focus, and individual service to our clients while utilizing the staff, management, and technical resources of our larger organization. HLW has maintained a staff of landscape architects in its New York office going back over 70 years and HLW's multi-disciplinary approach has been in continuous practice for over 130 years. The Landscape Architecture Studio has a strong background in on-site construction and facilities management, which allows us to bring to projects a keen understanding of construction techniques, costs, and phasing issues.
Our Mission is to tell the unique stories of our clients through innovative architecture and design. We know that design can have a positive impact on the health & well-being of individuals and communities by being authentic, thoughtful, and inventive. The design of space should be compelling, beautiful and responsive to the variety of people who inhabit it. With over 132 years in business, our firm has deep rooted design experience that is combined with a history of understanding trends and pushing beyond them.
We're excited to share that two of our projects were selected as finalists for Crain's Coolest Offices in New York! HLW's New York City office was selected for Coolest Collaboration and our recent design for Zola was selected for Coolest New Construction.
