We provide architectural and building engineering services for commercial and residential clients. Or, for more information why not browse our services in full by clicking on the relevant icon above.

Our staff work closely with one other to provide Clients with a comprehensive building design service for almost any type of domestic building project, including loft conversions, extensions, garage or basement conversions, or we can design you a completely new house. It doesn't just stop there, we also have experience of designing warehouses, retail units, educational premises, even places of worship; the list goes on. Whatever the size or scope of your project we shall be pleased to discuss it with you and explain how we can help you realize your dream and whether your project needs planning and/or building regulation approval.

Amongst our other services, we also have qualified and experienced Party Wall Act surveyors within the company. The Party Wall Act has been in force since 1st July 1997, but many members of the Public remain unaware of the potential implications of the Party Wall Act upon their project until it is too late. Also, many building professionals know only a little about the potential financial and time implications that the Party Wall Act may have upon a project. If the Act applies to your works you may need to serve a formal Notice on the adjoining property owner potentially as much as two months before you start work and, you will need to secure the adjoining owner's written approval for those works, before you can start.

Taylor Tuxford Associates operates as an independent firm of consulting engineers, surveyors and architectural designers based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, offering its services over a wide geographical area. We can advise you on almost all building, property and/or construction related matters, including as examples, structural engineer's surveys, condition surveys, and the like. We can also provide you with a comprehensive architectural / building design service, covering all liaison with Planning and Building Control bodies as well as having our own in-house expertise for complementary issues such as structural design and matters relating to the Party Wall etc Act 1996.

As part of our structural design service We can prepare structural calculations for steel beams, wall/chimney breast removals, foundations, retaining walls, etc. These can be either to our own designs or to plans prepared by others. We can also prepare sketches to accompany the structural calculations where the works are being carried out without the benefit of full plans, i.e., works being carried out under a Building Notice. These calculations are required for all structural elements that are not governed by empirical provisions contained within the Building Regulations Approved Documents, to prove their stability and suitability for use in any given instance.

Structural Engineer Inspections and Reports are commonly required when a property has evidence of past or ongoing structural movement - such as fracturing or distortion to walls, floors, roofs or internal finishes. Examples of building distortion might include bulging or leaning walls, sagging ceilings and roofs, or an overall "tilt" in one direction. Our structural engineer will try to determine - if possible by an initial visual inspection - whether this movement is longstanding and stable, or whether it is possibly ongoing and progressive.
