Structural Engineering is the science and art of designing and constructing with economy, elegance and style, buildings, bridges, frameworks and structures so that they safely resist the forces to which they may become exposed and subjected to. More recently environmentally sustainable issues have come to the foreground of design principles and is now a consideration in all forms of building design undertaken at Rowntree Partnership. We undertake work in the Commercial, Retail, Engineering and Residential sectors, from complex commercial and retail build to bespoke new build, home extensions and loft conversions.

Rowntree Partnership Consulting Civil & Structural Engineers has now been in existence for over 35 years having been founded in 1981. The practice carries out contracts mainly within a 100 mile radius of Gloucester, but does operate nationally as required by our clients. The success of the practice has enabled growth and it now comprises of two Directors and a team of experienced seniors engineers, graduates, technicians and external consultants. The practice has, since its early days, expanded its boundaries somewhat, and contracts have been completed all over the UK and overseas including China.

The client brief was to provide a new indoor swimming pool within the existing west wing of the manor house and provide a replacement garage block with storage area. The works to the existing building involved underpinning the existing foundations and providing a new supporting steel structure to stabilise the retained. This project involved the part demolition of the existing property and vertical extension to the retained section. A substantial three storey new build extension was then attached.

This refurbishment project required the conversion of an existing light industrial building to a modern office and testing facility. Rowntree were responsible for the design of all sub and superstructure works. The alterations were extensive and included providing a new first floor structure to 80% of the building footprint, an. This former warehouse and storage building was converted into a modern car dealership premises, providing showroom, workshops, stores and office space. The extensive remodelling works included strengthening and alterations to the existing steel frame, a replacement ground floor slab construction and new roof covering.

We are able now offer our clients ever increasing possibilities through 3D modelling and engineering services in Tekla Structures & Tekla Structural Designer that can be implemented into BIM level 1 & 2 Projects. These models are now easily incorporated into a clients BIM Execution Plan and transferred in a. We have a long association with engineering and manufacturing companies in the area and provide close technical and structural support services. For example these works include providing designs and working drawings for machine bases, crane upgrades and installations, bridges, access platforms and walkways, new structures, alterations and extensions.
