Wilton and Axminster carpets are produced using a traditional process where the pile and backing yarns are woven together. This hardy grass has to withstand all sorts of abuse to be worthy enough to grace your home. Sourced from Vietnamese and Chinese plantations, this hardy grass has to withstand copious amounts of ocean salt & raging typhoons before being carefully woven into Herringbone and Basket-weave in both Normal and Fine weaves.
Most twist piles are produced using a 80%/20% wool nylon mix. The softness of wool combined with the strength of nylon creates the perfect carpet yarn. Carpets are produced in standard widths of 4m and 5m however some manufactures provide a variety of colour matching widths both metric and Imperial. Using bespoke manufactures carpets can be produced up to 12m wide in addition to dying to the customers requirement. The pile weight, tuft density and pile height are all factors that can effect the feel and durability of a carpet.
