Pat testing stands for 'Portable Appliance Testing'. A portable appliance is any item which has a power lead and a plug that is connected to the main electricity supply. Items range from, kettles, toasters, extension leads to floor buffers and vacuums. All appliances that are tested need to be properly identified by a labelling system. At Apollo we adopt a labelling system so every piece of equipment has a unique serial number. The label also includes, the date the test was carried out, the initials of the tester, whether the appliance passed or failed and when the item requires to be retested.
