Our store is family owned through 5 generations and has been firmly established as a furniture shop in Harrogate since 1906 playing host to traditional and contemporary Upholstery, Furniture, Beds, Carpets and Flooring. Founded in 1906 by Frederick Smith who opened a small second hand furniture shop in the town. The business thrived and continued to expand and in 1935 the former roller skating rink in Dragon Road, Harrogate, proved the basis of the business as it is known today. Our large 30,000 sq foot, fifth generation, family run store, plays host to a truly diverse range of fine furniture, luxury sofas & beds, and quality carpets. Famous throughout the region we take a genuine pride in our profession and quality concerns.

Our flooring department are on hand to find the perfect rug for your home. We offer a completely bespoke rug service aswell as standard sizing to fit your room perfectly. A selection of handpicked manufacturers ensure quality you can expect from Smiths. All rugs can be delivered by our team or collected from our store.

Sofa Beds & Futon Beds - Here at Smiths we stock quality sofa beds from a variety of manufacturers. Sofa beds are designed to be easily transformed from a comfortable sofa easily into a pull out bed. By simply removing the seat cushions an easy to open mechanism under the seat allows you to open out a comfortable mattress.

At Smiths we are much more than furniture. Our flooring department has gone from strength to strength over the years to now be a major part of what we do best. Our flooring team is headed by Richard Smith & Mr Andrea Muccio with own full time fitters Kevin & Peter, Kevin has been working with us for the past 7 years, with his meticulous eye to detail and efficiency Kevin & Peter are assisted by our team of 6 transport staff on hand for large scale installations.

Our bed studio has an unrivalled selection of 60 quality divan beds and mattresses on display, with quality brands including TEMPUR, Somnus, Harrisons, Hypnos, Dunlopillo, Relyon & Mammoth you are sure to find your perfect bed. Divan beds consist of a mattress on a sprung or platform top divan base (also knows as a box spring). Divans offer a number of advantages over a traditional beech slatted bed frame in providing a superior, supportive surface for your mattress.

Ottoman bed bases offer a simple lift up storage solution using gas pistons and reinforced frames. Our ottomans have been carefully selected to offer stylish looks whilst supporting up to 95KG mattress weight. Our experts will guide you through the range to find the ottoman to suit your bed. Ottoman beds are available as slatted or platform tops to which the mattress will rest on. Slatted bases offer the best ventilation whilst platform tops offer a firmer feel to your sleeping surface.

Here at Smiths we offer a full design and installation service. Our experienced Karndean fitters install to the highest standard using the very best in subfloor materials to provide the ultimate finish. Karndean as a floor is known as LVT and offers the luxury of natural wood or ceramic flooring without the associated drawbacks such as regular maintenance & durability. Karndean is a robust product ideal in homes backed up with commercial standards.
