Bitumen is an oil based material that's commonly applied to roofs in order to bond the roofing membranes, insulation and layers of vapor control materials to a variety of substrates. Our fully trained team here at MBC Roofing & Building apply hot bitumen to the front of the felt roofing roll which is then unrolled into the hot bitumen, spreading it to give a coating for the full width of the roll. The felt, is usually bonded by three layers, and is bedded with the hot bitumen on top of the roof, this then makes a waterproof system suitable for use on garages, sheds and extensions.
