We have a number of professionally trained surveyors who are available to call to your home and carry out a free survey. This survey will determine what insulation measures are required to take you up to the required standard and to save money on your fuel bills. They can also offer advice on grants you may be eligible for. Up to 35% of all heat loss in your home is lost through the walls. The majority of properties built since the 1930's are built by constructing masonry walls with an airgap, or "cavity", of at least 50mm in between.
Without adequate loft insulation you could be losing as much as 25% of your heating costs through your roof. Insulating your loft is a simple and can help you save around 350 per year on your fuel bills and around 1,200kg of CO a year (based on an un-insulated detached home). Loft insulation can be carried out with very little disruption. The recommended depth for loft insulation at present is 300mm, 100mm of insulation is laid between the rafters and 200mm cross-laid. It is advisable to lag tanks and pipes when the attic is being insulated to avoid the pipes freezing in winter.
Loft insulation is a very effective way of reducing heat loss from your home. Up to 25% of the energy used to heat your home can be lost through the roof. Adequate ventilation must be present in the loft area before insulation can be installed. This will be identified by our surveyor who will then recommend the necessary ventilation measures which should be installed. Failure to have adequate ventilation can result in damp and condensation problems in your loft after insulation has been laid.
The majority of properties built since the 1930's consist of two ‘Skins'(often brickwork or blockwork) which are separated by a hollow space i.e. a cavity. If the cavity in these properties is left un-insulated approximately 35% of the heat within the property can escape through the un-insulated walls. By installing a high quality bonded bead system into the cavity of these properties (both existing and new build) we can provide an efficient and effective way to insulate the cavity and reduce this heat loss.
