Hussey & Briggs has been in continuous business for almost 25 years and provides high-quality windows, doors and conservatories that transform houses into homes. With specialist knowledge in Aluminium and Timber window and door systems, we cater from all property types throughout West Dorset including listed buildings.

Bring your home into the 21st Century by ditching the old and tired windows and replacing them with the state of the art, precision engineered aluminium casement windows. The aluminium window frame technology has moved on from the 1960s when they first become popular. Today, you can enjoy the bright, natural light from the comfort of your home, thanks to the economic design of casement windows. With a choice of configurations available, you can select to maximise your views of the outside by going for the popular triple vertical or the single window.

Sliding uPVC sash windows, like other uPVC window styles, offer similar benefits. Advantages over timber sash windows include durability, maintenance-free installation, and easy to clean surfaces which are immune to warping, rot and rust. A combination of modern manufacturing methods and advanced design skills ensure the uPVC sash windows we make for you will stand the test of time. Being Victorian or Georgian does not mean your home has to be stuck in the past. If you have recently bought a period property which needs a little love and care then uPVC sash windows will help you restore your home's glory with the planning headaches.

When you choose uPVC casement windows, you have taken the middle ground in terms of pricing and keeping your costs down. Looking for a stylish, personalised window replacement? Look no further than uPVC casement windows, available in white or choose from our selection of colours.

Ideal for modern, contemporary houses, uPVC tilt and turn windows offer stylish window dressing options second to none. Just like all modern windows, they are precision machined and made to order. This means whatever the size of your windows, a bespoke tilt and turn window can be designed to suit. When faced with the decision to choose replacement windows for your home, uPVC tilt and turn windows should be at the top of your shortlist. Amazing views, sunny and airy rooms plus high security are all there for the taking when you select tilt and turn windows.

Give your home's entrance a lustrous, contemporary appearance with aluminium front doors. Aluminium front and back doors are individually constructed using state of the art technology by skilled craftsmen using the finest material. Aluminium alloy is powder coated for durability and the result is a modern, shiny door that will add value and aesthetic appeal to any house. If you are looking for a low maintenance, highly secure, attractive and virtually indestructible front or back door, aluminium is your best option.

The high resistance to the elements, rust, corrosion and considerable tensile strength all make aluminium a desirable window construction material. Combine these factors with a stylish and functional window design, the tilt and turn window, and the result is an elegant window fit for any contemporary home. Aluminium tilt and turn windows have a low profile frame, meaning you have more of the transparent stuff than other frame choices. Your rooms will enjoy more light and the sleek and crisp lines add to the design, both interior and exterior.

Choosing uPVC doors offers several advantages over the other door construction materials. For a start, the price point for the majority of uPVC doors is lower than traditional timber or aluminium doors. This often means you invest less to improve the aesthetics of your home than you would if you chose the other materials. There are a variety of designs available for both front and back doors, and they can all come with a letterbox. You can also specify other extras such as brass a knocker or omit the letterbox for your front door.

We offer a huge range of window types from casements to sash windows, from uPVC to timber and everything in between. Whether you are after a period traditional look or modern contemporary style, we can cater for your every need.

Conservatories offer an easier way to create more personal space without the cost of a house extension. Available in a variety of designs and styles, our conservatories are constructed to suit your home, whether traditional or contemporary. Choose from a selection of designs and styles and have a piece of heaven right outside in your garden. Your state of the art conservatory will be built from the best glass and uPVC, timber or aluminium frames. First introduced in the 16th Century, conservatories have been a prominent feature of many homes in the UK over the years.

Our Sliding Patio Doors are the perfect choice when it comes to merging your home with your garden, as they add style with a touch of nature. Sliding patio doors are the perfect way to opening up your home to your garden without compromising on your home's beauty. Elegant and efficient, they create an aura of home yet still being able to retain heat hence reducing your heating bill. With their wide range of different designs, you are sure to find the right fit for your home. You have a choice between uPVC, Timber as well as Aluminium.

With the wide selection of door styles available on the market today, why should you choose aluminium sliding patio doors? French doors and bifold doors are an option, as well as timber and uPVC sliding patio doors. The biggest advantage of sliding doors versus the other door types is the fact that sliding doors do not take up any space outside or inside the room when they open. Aluminium frames are much slimmer than uPVC or timber frames. This means there is more of the glazing surface available to let the natural light flood into the room when the doors are shut.

Open up your living space and extend your kitchen or lounge right into the garden with a set of bifold doors. Choose the long lasting aluminium, easy to clean and elegant bi-folding doors and add a touch of class to your home. Bifold or bi-folding doors are a set of doors designed to slide open "concertina" style and take up as little room as possible when open. They are usually glass-fronted creating a panoramic view from your home into your gardens while creating an invisible barrier between the inside and out when closed.

Eliminate the common problems associated with dated traditional sash windows including draughts and rattling by investing in modern, precision engineered sash windows. Let the charm and grace of your historic property shine through. Bring back the character and charm of your period house to the surface with sliding Sash windows. Single or double-hung sash windows add elegance and style while accentuating the aesthetic features of your home. The sash window style dates back to the Victorian era and has not changed much over the years.

The up and over garage doors are one of the most commonly used garage doors in the UK today. It is a simple, single piece door design, easy to install and operate and requires little maintenance. An up and over garage door requires a sub-frame, which is fixed to the door opening and will support the door and the operating mechanism. The canopy up and over garage door is the most common variation and is so named because the opening mechanism takes the door up and over your head, where the door rests, forming a "canopy".

Composite doors are a big competitor with uPVC for making doors as they are both synthetic material. Composite doors are made out of several materials which makes them considerably stronger than uPVC and so from a security point of view, does a better job. Also, the customisation options are broader for composite and you can achieve looks similar to hardwood if you opt for the wood effect versions. Composite doors are usually made of a wood or insulation core and then have GRP panels fixed to the outside.

You will find side hinged garage doors on traditional style garages where there is a need to maintain a traditional appearance to the property. They are simple in operation and require very little in mechanical moving parts apart from the hinges. The simplicity of the doors makes them maintenance-free, apart from oiling the hinges to ensure smooth operation. There are countless style options available, including period inspired designs as well as the option to have vision panels installed in the top sections of the doors.

For that timeless, traditional and warm look, nothing beats timber doors. Great skill and craftsmanship go into creating the perfect entrance door, whether it's for your front or back door. A variety of design and styling options are available when you work with timber, and so are the types of wood used. The construction methods for wooden doors also differ and you can choose from solid hardwood, softwood or compressed laminated plywood layers. Natural hardwood is amazing for traditional houses.

Doors have been serving a practical function of providing security to your home and family for centuries. However, gone are the days when just having a solid mass of timber in front of your house was enough. Your front door is the first thing visitors see when they come to your home and choosing a door that is functional as well as aesthetically pleasing is now more important than ever. Although there is a limited choice of construction material for you to choose from, the designs and styles available makeup for this.

If you are looking for a neat and clean garage door then the roller garage door is a contender. When shut, the door looks graceful, with the small horizontal sections adding interesting lines to the overall look of your garage. When fully open, the roller door disappears out of view. The installation of a roller door does not consume a lot of head space with tracks on the ceiling of your garage. Instead, the roll of door material is neatly tucked away right above the door opening, where the mechanism is located.

Britain is awash with Georgian and Victorian era properties, one of their most elegant and standout features being their timber sliding sash windows. Wood, being a natural material is easy to customise to suit personal tastes, as well as having the ability to blend in with a variety of decors. Wooden sash windows are the ideal choice if you are restoring a Victorian or Georgian home and would like to retain the authentic, traditional look. The difference between traditional and modern wooden sash windows being precision engineering and efficient glazing options.

A garage door type whose popularity continues to grow, the sectional garage door is a favourite of many homeowners. If you are looking for a practical, safe, secure and easy to use garage door, sectional garage doors tick all these boxes. The garage door is made out of horizontal sections, joined together to form the curtain. The name sectional comes from the fact that as the door operates, it does so in separate sections. It is similar to the roller door in that it operates vertically with no outward swing, and therefore does not require any space on the outside.

Our made-to measure bifold doors create an energy-efficient and pleasant environment combining the outdoors with your internal living space. On the warm summer days, open up the bifold doors to let the conservatory or extension warm up to the natural temperatures outside. Selecting aluminium bifold doors allows you create a distraction-free space, unencumbered by large frames and lets in a large amount of daylight. The slim profile of aluminium frames comes in 200 colours and you can choose to have two different colours, one for the inside and a different colour for the outside.

Choosing the right garage door for your home will not only make your home aesthetically appealing but also add value to the property. Garage doors are made to measure and supplied in a variety of high-performance materials including aluminium, GRP, and mild steel. Garages serve a variety of purposes, some far removed from their original intended purpose. Depending on the design of your garage, and whether it adjoins the house or not, security is a prime concern. Selecting the right garage door can be a challenge, especially if you are unhappy with the current doors and would like a change.

So today marked the last day on site of the Lyme Regis project, just some items to make in the workshop and return to fit in a weeks time. The project is almost completely finished, it's just final decoration and landscaping jobs to be completed by the clients in due course. It's taken a calendar.
