I would highly recommend AVOID using this company (one man band). He turned up to the job without even bringing in a bag of tools - He made excuses on why he could not complete the job - Not the right fitting to get the screws back on the concrete outer rim to the drum - He did not wait 15 minutes for my flat mate to come back with a large flat head screwdriver at which point my friend who is not a washing machine repair man fitted the outer rim with no problems and put the machine back together within 20 minutes and the machine is now fully working without the help from JWP Domestic appliances - Before he came to the job he tried to get out off coming by saying he should order a new door rubber for the washing machine - this was without looking at the job first - I informed him the door rubber was not broken and a new one did not need to be ordered which he confirmed when he arrived - He did not want to work put little to no effort in - started moaning about he customer he had before coming to my job which was totally unprofessional and left my machine not working and not put together - then told me I owed him £60 for the 10 minutes he attended the property - The man is a complete cowboy - Do not believe his reviews on his site - When you look at other sites and Facebook the reviews pretty much all say the same - Avoid, Avoid, Avoid - James has to be about the laziest and most unprofessional tradesman I have ever had at this property.

Save yourself the hassle. I found JWP through MyJobQuote for a straightforward dishwasher repair. He was quick to respond and came out for an assessment, though an hour late with no acknowledgement. The diagnosis took about a minute — no tools, no testing — and he took £70 upfront before leaving.

What followed was three weeks of wasted time. We agreed four separate appointments. He didn't show up to any of them. The excuses rotated — illness one day, no phone signal the next, a family emergency after that. When I finally lost patience and told him I'd be going to county court and Trading Standards, he returned the money and accused me of blackmailing him.

The frustrating part is that I could have avoided all of this. A quick look at his recent reviews shows this is a well-established pattern — take the money, don't do the work, go quiet. The local engineer who eventually sorted the problem in about twenty minutes told me he regularly picks up customers who've been through the same thing with JWP.

I've reported it to Trading Standards via Citizens Advice. If you've had a similar experience, it's worth doing the same — it takes a few minutes and multiple reports can trigger a formal investigation.

It is sad to see so many reviews with similar experiences to ours with James. We contacted James to fix our insinkerator and cooker hood. James arrived late, entering with no tools and took a quick look at our appliances (no further than we had ourselves). He said we needed new ones and he would replace them, all in, for £160 but he needed the money right then. Stupidly we transferred the money and spent the next few weeks chasing him and receiving confusing text messages with no progress on next steps, just reasons for delays. We decided we didn't want to proceed as we had lost faith and weeks later, still had broken appliances and asked for a refund. Suddenly James was available to talk! He was difficult to speak to reasonably as he would cut us off when we spoke. It was highly frustrating and distressing as he had £160 from us. He said he was going to send through prices for the appliances which he did but was reluctant to share details like the brand or source of these appliances, or options, saying things like 'why do you want to know?' He was also quoting for a new appliance which I knew I could buy cheaper myself which suggests he was adding on top for himself, despite saying initially it was 'all in'. He said he won't repair with appliances we buy in so he doesn't get blamed when they don't work which we found odd - if the appliance failed, we would have the supplier warranty to sort that. It would mean you have to use him to fix it again, at more cost. There were so many red flags and we just wanted to call it a day. Every time we asked for a refund, James was instantly calling us and non stop talking and again we couldn't get a word in. Eventually, we managed to agree to a 50/50 refund so £80 back. We were willing to pay for his time when he came out and to end this disappointing experience. James said he would only refund in cash and would drop it in. Excuses followed, no money appeared. Two months on, still nothing.

I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but after months of trying to resolve this matter privately, I feel it’s important to share our experience.

We contacted JWP Appliances after smelling gas coming from our hob. James attended, diagnosed the fault as a faulty valve and took payment of £150. We were told the service charge was separate from the replacement part and that he would return the following week to complete the repair.

Unfortunately, that never happened.

Over the following weeks and months we experienced repeated delays, missed appointments, unanswered calls and a constant stream of reasons why the work could not be completed. We remained patient throughout and tried to accommodate the various personal circumstances that were explained to us, but despite numerous promises, the repair was never completed and our hob remained unusable.

When we eventually decided to use another engineer, we requested a refund. James later offered a £100 refund in writing, which we accepted in good faith to bring the matter to an end. We then received further promises that a cheque would be sent, followed by more delays and no refund.

Throughout this entire process we remained polite, extended deadlines at his request and even sent a formal Letter Before Action before considering any further action. We genuinely tried to resolve everything privately.

We completely understand that life can sometimes get in the way and we have sympathy for anyone experiencing personal difficulties. However, keeping customers informed, meeting agreed commitments and communicating honestly are all essential parts of running a business.

Everything written in this review is an accurate account of our own experience, and we have retained all relevant evidence, including payment records, emails and text message correspondence, to support the events described.

Based on our experience, we cannot recommend JWP Appliances.

James turned up the same day, as he said, and fixed my oven very speedily. Top job.

Emergency call out washing machine wouldn’t drain after overnight wash.
James was able to get here within a couple of hours and found the cause and repaired immediately.

James came out today (yes, a Sunday) and fixed my Siemens oven very quickly.
Would highly recommend him and his firm.

Zero stars if I could. James attended my home end of February 2026 to fix my dishwasher which would not turn on. He said I needed a new control panel and charged £240 which he wanted up front. While in my kitchen he noticed that the seal on my fridge freezer was damaged and offered to replace that at the same time. Another £90 charged via a handheld debit card machine. He said there was an 8 to 10 day wait for the parts, so far so good. He seemed very professional and knowledgeable and I completely trusted him. In fact I had a few other jobs lined up to give to him.

Then it all went wrong, after 10 days I heard nothing from James so decided to try the dishwasher, it worked perfectly ( I have since discovered from another engineer that sometimes if water leaks into the bottom of the machine it stops working as a safety feature to stop your kitchen getting flooded, I would have expected James to know this rather than suggesting I needed an expensive new part or a new dishwasher which he also suggested ). I contacted James to ask for a refund for the dishwasher part and also asked about the seal. He said he would look into it the next week, the next day, first thing in the morning etc etc but he never ever did get back to me . All kinds of vague excuses, going on holiday, being busy, worn out by the heatwave you name it. He does not seem to have any professional pride and no interest in supporting his customers. I have a full list of our Whatsapp conversations and I must have contacted him at least 12 plus times asking for my money back and/ or delivery of the seal. In the end I gave up and raised a dispute with my bank to charge back the £330 I had paid via my debit card. This takes at least 45 days unless the trader authorises a refund. James of course did not bother to do that so it has taken me a full five months ( February to July) to get my money back.
On another note , I bought two new fridge/ freezer seals online for just £60 and it took less than a minute to fit to my fridge freezer.
I am concerned to see James is still getting five star reviews on Google and other platforms, I am wondering if they are fake because everytime there is a bad review ( and there are over 70 now) a couple more excellent ones pop up . It all seems very suspicious. Please avoid this company, the most frustrating experience I have ever had with a tradesperson, I'd hate anyone else to be in the same position as me. Thank goodness the bank were able to get my money back as I paid by debit card, I can't afford to lose that amount of money.

Quick response, excellent communication, fast call out. Very reasonable rates.
highly recommended and thankful for the quick machine repair.

James responded very quickly to my request on trust a trader and provided an immediate quote over the phone. He arrived the next day bringing the appropriate parts to fix my electric cooker. The job was completed quickly and professionally with no issues. James provided a great overall service and I would recommend him to others.

James from JWP Domestic Appliance Services and Sales attended on 15th May 2026 to diagnose an ice dispenser fault on my American fridge freezer. He quoted £180 for the part, but after I found what appeared to be the same part online for £90, he reduced the price first to £150, then £125. I paid £125 for the part and £40 towards fitting, with the balance due once fitted.

What followed was weeks of delays, poor communication and constantly changing arrangements. Fitting dates were repeatedly moved due to holidays, birthdays, the wrong part arriving, and then on Monday 29th June he said the replacement part had a crack in it and could not be fitted. At that point I requested a full refund.

I eventually received the £125 back, but not the £40 fitting payment, despite no fitting ever taking place. The whole experience was frustrating, unprofessional and a complete waste of time. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise avoiding this company.

Fantastic service.
I called the lovely James out as my door seal had ripped leaving my washing machine inoperable. He attended the next morning (yesterday) with the part, fitted and tested it and it’s now working perfectly.
I was dreading being without the machine for a week as I’ve always got a mound of washing but within 30 hours it was sorted, by a friendly face, much cheaper than the quote I had from Bosch.
Thanks James, see you next time I have a breakdown.

James was quick, efficient, and professional when he visited our home to diagnose the issue with our cooker. He identified the problem straight away and, after a short wait for the replacement part and arranging a convenient fitting date, returned to complete the repair.

The job was carried out promptly and to a very high standard. We were extremely pleased with his service and would highly recommend him.

Happy to recommend James - came out on the day he said he would, diagnosed the problem with our extractor hood and fixed it there and then.
Nice bloke, good service!

Very prompt, friendly and helpful

Very quick to take £140 at the start and then 3 weeks of chasing, broken promises and refusal to refund. I’d never recommend

James responded to our call instantly and within an hour had fixed our appliance despite it being a Saturday! Excellent service and we've already rebooked. I can't recommend enough!

Great service coming out on day off to replace oven door. Can't thank James enough. Highly recommended.

Great service today, knowledgable and very friendly people.didn't bat an eyelid at my 18 year old machine.all fixed and washing marathons begun.
