It's a well-known fact that having a burglar alarm or intruder alarm fitted, whether your home or business, will deter potential burglaries occurring at your premises. Studies reveal that it is far less likely that you will become the victim of a burglary at home if you have a correctly fitted and well maintained burglar alarm.

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires that premises must be equipped with fully-working fire detection and alarm systems. You can also be assured of professional advice. We have extensive fire safety experience and offer top quality customer service. In accordance with BS5839 Part 1: 2017 (Fire Alarm Systems), Fire Guard Services can provide you with a complete, integrated fire alarm solution, including smoke and heat detection, beacons, sounder bells and manual call points. Once your fire alarm system has been installed, our engineers will carry out quarterly or six monthly servicing.

To ensure your fire alarm is fully operational and in good working order, a fire alarm test once a week will reassure you that the fire alarm system is working correctly. For your peace of mind, why not let Fire Guard Services take care of this important part of your fire safety routine? We provide a weekly fire alarm testing programme to ensure that a detailed inspection is carried out and recorded each and every week.

Often, safety defects are visual and can be easily spotted. However, faults are generally detected by plugging the device into our specialist PAT testing equipment. If electrical appliance testing is not carried out, the defect could cause danger to the individual using the equipment, or to the whole fabric of the building. The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 puts the duty of care on both the employer and employee to ensure the safety of all persons using the premises, including self-employed people.

Every year the Fire and Rescue Service is called to over 600,000 fires which result in over 800 deaths and over 17,000 injuries. It's best practice to have smoke detectors installed on each level of your premises, especially in areas that are at higher fire risk - for example, kitchens, rooms with fireplaces or electric heaters, or sever rooms. A fire alarm is responsible for raising a wider alarm and prompting the whole building to take action. It is usually triggered by a smoke detector, or can be triggered manually, and will sound an alarm in the entire premises.

A fire exit is a specific route that people should use to leave a building in the event of a fire. If natural light is poor within the building, adequate illumination (including emergency lighting) will be required. The Fire Precaution and Health and Safety at Work Regulations and Legislation recommends that all fire extinguishers are clearly marked and easily accessible at all times. Clear fire extinguisher signage guarantees that you are compliant. All employees should be trained to be able to identify the contents of extinguishers and the type of fires they are appropriate for.

In addition to our installation and maintenance services, Fire Guard Services also provide a full fire risk assessment. These are carried by our professional in-house risk assessors throughout Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Fire Extinguishers are a basic requirement in all business and residential buildings. They are used to control or extinguish small fires. It is important that extinguishers are correctly positioned and easy to access in the event of an emergency. When you choose us to install and service your fire alarm, you can be certain that you will be compliant with government and industry legislation.
