Insulation Grants are available in almost all areas of the UK, to cover the full cost of both Cavity Wall Insulation and Loft Insulation. Anyone aged 70 and above or in receipt of certain benefits, tax credits or allowances, can receive a 100% Free Grant. All other homeowners and private tenants will qualify for a Grant to cover 70% of the cost, leaving you just £99 to £199 to pay for each type. The current Insulation Grants scheme will have ended completely by March 2013. A new scheme called ECO (Energy Company Obligation) is being introduced but the vast majority of householders will not qualify.

This InsulationGrants web site is part of the EnergyLink group of web sites. Established in 2007, EnergyLink Ltd. put customers in touch with reputable insulation installers in their local area. EnergyLink installers can all claim Government-backed grants and offer a free, no-obligation survey. Home Insulation grant funding comes from the six main Gas & Electricity companies who are: NPower, E.ON, Scottish Power, British Gas, EDF and Scottish & Southern Energy. The Government have set these utility companies targets to reduce carbon emissions by 2011.

Both the loft and cavity will require an insulation survey, prior to the installation of any Cavity Wall Insulation or Loft Insulation. This will determine the suitability of the property for insulation measures. This free insulation survey typically takes around 20 to 30 minutes and you are not obliged to go ahead afterwards. The main reason is to check that your property is suitable for Loft Insulation and/or Cavity Wall Insulation. There may be technical reasons why it cannot go ahead. The surveyor will also confirm whether you are entitled to a full or partial grant and if you do need to pay a contribution, they will provide you with a written quotation.

For a limited time only, homeowners and private tenants can claim 100% Free Insulation Grants to cover the full cost of having Cavity Wall and Loft Insulation professionally installed. Anyone aged 70 and above or in receipt of certain benefits, tax credits or allowances, is entitled to a 100% Free Grant. All other homeowners and private tenants can claim a Grant for between up to 70% of the cost, typically leaving £99 to £199 for you to contribute towards each type. Loft Insulation acts as a blanket by trapping heat in your home, cutting the amount that escapes your property by 25% and will lead to savings of up to 175 per year.
