Pan-Global' provides an inspiring selection of the finest, most desirable and often rarest plants capable of growing on these isles. Rare does not necessarily mean hard to grow; some may be a challenge but many are perfectly easy and can be immensely satisfying and rewarding. I'm not one for slavishly following in the footsteps of ‘The Great Planthunters'. Having said that however, a botanising trip to this infrequently visited, remote corner of India was in order. Robin Lane Fox, the English classicist, ancient historian and gardening writer is inspired by a ‘top-class raid on a top-class nursery' when he visits Pan-Global.

An utterly fabulous place! Amazing rare plants in a beautiful setting, with a beautiful and most unusual garden attached. The Kew-trained owner is wonderfully knowledgeable. This is a place for horticultural pilgrims, but no-one could not rejoice that it exists. Simply one of the best nurseries there is.

An exceptional nursery, not just for its wide range of rare and exotic plants but for its approachable owner. There isn't a nursery I would rather visit.

Huge choice of rare and unusual plants, extremely chilled owner.

#nofilter Daphne bholua 'Mary Rose'; better than ever this year. This was named by my main propagator Paul, a seed raised plant of forgotten origin but considered D. bholua. I grow ever more convinced it's actually Daphne bholua x odora: the unprecedented colour (seen in the buds of odora), the.

Iris lazica 'Turkish Blue' was introduced from NE Turkey by Martin Rix. Not the best cultivar name, as it's distinctly purple, but it's a very close relative of the well known winter flowering I. unguicularis. Unlike it, it has shiny green foliage and is perfectly suited to higher rainfall and.

Flowering earlier than usual this year, Daphne 'Spring Beauty'; a hybrid of D. bholua and D. aff. sureil. With a less crowded inflorescence, this has an elegance not usually seen in D. bholua.#panglobalplants #rareplants #daphne #winterflowers #winterfragrance

Some appropriate Christmas cheer from a distinct and compact form of Stranvaesia (Photinia) davidiana we found at altitude in Guizhou, SW China back in 2011. Despite it being recorded as such I am dubious about the name. Superb fruit though, and small foliage on a dense, compact shrub.#.
