We met in a shared workshop where we both rented benches in 2009 and quickly discovered that we had similar aims, high standards, infuriatingly enquiring minds and a mutual love of tea and doughnuts. Fairly quickly Cox and Walters was born and we moved into our own premises. We are both former engineers (Paul was an automotive designer and Niall was a quality engineer in petrochemicals) and we both take a lot of pleasure in problem solving and trying new ways to make things work (those infuriatingly enquiring minds).

Over the years alongside our traditional cabinet and furniture making, we have made doughnut shaped bars, turned stables into 8 seater cinemas and made a Dr Zeus inspired wonky play house. We really enjoy the challenge of matching existing joinery with new products. Our workshop doors were salvaged when we had to make a new set for a customer after a burglary left them badly damaged.

Beautifully designed and crafted pieces for my new workshop. I would highly recommend Niall and Paul for any of your carpentry needs.

What's new?

All good things. I thought I should post something to show that we have been working for the last year and not just messing about on the beach or with motorbikes! About 14 months ago @harrietanstrut herstudio contacted us with some pieces she wanted making. I don't think any of us thought it would.

The last few jobs we have done have been big enough that is has been hard to get a photo of them. This is just two cabinets of ten ready for painting as part of a dressing room.
