I wanted to write a review of my stay at the Thistle Barbican Hotel in London, however, the link they sent me to rate it expired within a week or so after my return home? I hope they read this and extend the time limit. The location is convenient and pretty close to the Northern Line at Old Street, if anyone is arriving from Gatwick on Thameslink, whether you get off a Blackfriars or London Bridge I recommend taking a cab the rest of the way to the hotel it cost me the same as purchasing a daypass (12) as walk from the station with bags is tough. The hotel is very nice and modern inside and the staff very helpful and went out of their way to answer questions or problems.not that I had any. The only issue and I can't confirm that the other rooms are different is that there are two buildings with a central courtyard in between, needless to say I was not housed in the main hotel I had to cross the courtyard to get to the building where my room was located. It had been somewhat remodeled., but, you could see that the building was older, but, since I had nothing to go on It didn't really bother me. I felt very safe as you cannot get in the building or use the elevator without a key card. The rooms are small but clean, with plenty of nice thick fluffy towels and an extra pillow. They also have hair dryer and iron & ironing board, if you need that for business travel, I had just arrived from Iceland so finding a hair dryer was a novelty I had to ask to borrow one at most hotels there. The most important part for me was that they have a coffee pot and coffee and teas in your room, plus my favorite butter cookies. I just don't function unless I have my coffee first thing. They have 2 bars in the main hotel and a restaurant for breakfast and dinner, their food was good and the menu had a variety of options and if you don't feel like having a full meal they provide smaller items in the bar. All around a nice hotel, I was surprised that it rated 3 stars as I would have put it closer to 4. I really enjoyed my stay and when I return would stay there again no question. Thanks to all the great staff at the Barbican for making my stay in London enjoyable.
