We used a soft, white finish for this calm space inundated with daylight from the two enormous, industrial windows. Smooth ash wood surfaces with a delicate white finish contrast the rough firewood in the living room and the stone floors in the kitchen. The staircase is clad with thick ash boards to last for generations. All made in solid wood. The cherry wood vanity unit in the master bathroom is veneered, to avoid movement caused by moisture absorption. We produced all the free-standing furniture as well as the window stools for Atis Food in Old Street, using a mixture of veneers, solid cherry wood and galvanised steel.
Studio Manolo Ltd. is a step forward from Juan Junca - Handmade Furniture, started in 2016. It manages the design, making and installation of bespoke furniture for commercial and residential interiors with a high level of craftsmanship, as well as developing in-house designs for free-standing furniture made to order. Keeping the focus on Juan's strength working with solid wood, the studio provides architects, interior designers, brands, and home-owners with an all-round service, collaborating with its wider network to incorporate other materials and new techniques.
