When our drain engineer arrived on site they were unable to complete the CCTV drain survey due the double seal inspection covers being seized. As a result they were unable to lift the inspection covers to gain immediate access and deploy the CCTV camera. Unperturbed, our expert drain engineer broke-out the seized inspection covers and frames from the tiled floor, so the CCTV drain survey could then be carried out. Once the surface was prepared and new frames fitted in place, our drain engineer installed new double seal inspection covers.

Our recent drainage projects, including drain cleaning, unblocking, CCTV drain survey, inspections, repairs and maintenance, as well as the latest company and industry news.

In the grounds of this large privately owned house a sink hole appeared in the middle of a pathway across the rear lawn area. When the pathway collapsed it revealed a large crater beneath. The property owner advised our drain engineer that the lawn was flooding during heavy down-pours of rain. There were no surface water drains in the close vicinity of the sink hole, so it appeared that all of the surface water would flow to a soakaway concealed in the ground. Our drain engineer used our specialist CCTV drain survey equipment to enter the drainage system, locate the soakaway and investigate why the sink hole had appeared in the garden.

CCTV drain surveys are commonly used to diagnose faults in a drainage system. This may include blocked drains caused by deposits or roots in the system, or structural damage such as broken pipework. If you have a fault with your drainage system that cannot easily be seen because it is hidden below the surface, or you are experiencing recurring problems with your drains, pipework or sewers, a CCTV drain inspection is usually the quickest way to locate and identify the problem. Our CCTV drain surveys use specialist camera equipment to enter your drainage system.

As drainage specialists Direct Drain Services are able to clean and clear your blocked drains, whether it is a simple blockage or a deeper routed drainage problem. Our fully trained drain engineers have the expertise and experience to deal with all kinds of drainage problems and arrive on site with a fully equipped van ready to clear your blocked drains. If you have blocked drains it usually means that they need to be cleaned to ensure that the pipe work and sewers are able to do their job properly and carry surface water and waste water away.

Direct Drain Services offer drain repairs in London, Hertfordshire, Essex, Kent, Sussex, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Surrey and further afield when required, with a team of skilled drain engineers in fully equipped vehicles ready to come to site. As drain repair experts, no pipe or drain repair is too big or too small for us to deal with. We have years of experience in dealing with all manner of drain repairs and are competent in repairing both internal and external drainage systems. We are also able repair and replace defective manhole chamber covers, gullies, soil vent pipes, install anti-flood systems and grease traps, pump chambers, petrol interceptor tanks and soak away systems.

Using the SkyVac Industrial Wet and Dry Vacuum we are able to clean guttering to a height of 4 stories - 12 m / 40 ft. This eliminates the need for scaffolding, mobile towers and cherry pickers, which in turn reduces the organisation needed and the overall cost of the works. A frequently overlooked part of property maintenance is the cleaning and repair of guttering. This is largely because gutters are high up by the rooftop, which means problems are often hidden out of sight and you cannot see any blockages or what condition they are in.

With over 20 years experience maintaining drains, Direct Drain Services fully appreciate that every business and premises has it's own set of unique and sometimes complex drainage requirements. As such we offer tailored pre-planned maintenance agreements designed to provide managed cyclical checks and avoid any future drainage emergencies. We know that a drainage emergency is usually down to blockages in your drainage system. This can lead to a number of problems, such as flooding, foul odours, the loss of revenue for your business and disruption to your clients, colleagues or staff.

Our drain engineers are hot on health and safety, so the first task was to close off the area with safety barriers before any drain repairs could go ahead. The old manhole cover needed to be cut out and replaced with a new rectangular cast iron man hole cover. To do this our drain engineer cut out a ‘picture frame' with a saw around the broken manhole before the existing material within the old frame was broken out. Once broken up and excavated, the manhole cover is removed using a mechanical lifting device.

Highgate School contacted us after noticing a blockage in the foul drain exiting the changing rooms. As a school there is of course a duty of care issue in needing to use DBS checked and approved drainage contractors, which Direct Drain Services were able to satisfy. Our drain engineers were soon out to the school to investigate the drainage problem and provide a solution. Our drain engineers carried out a CCTV drain survey to quickly locate and identify the cause of the blocked drain. An inspection of the CCTV footage revealed the location of the blockage in the foul drain pipe.
