I was really disappointed with homestart. After having my daughter who screamed night and day and was in and out of a&e it turned out she had a severe cow's milk allergy and reflux, in addition to that I had a 20 month old who was hypermobile and physically delayed, not walking and undergoing physiotherapy. Homestart was recommended to me by my health visitor as I was really struggling with many things I won't go in to, and with my husband working long days I felt I needed the support and felt better just knowing what I was signing up for. The initial meeting with the representative made me feel as though I wasn't entitled to a volunteer as I was not a single parent and if anything I felt I was an inconvenience, and it definitely showed. It took approximately 10 weeks for me to say enough and I hadn't even met my volunteer yet as she was changed twice and the introductory meeting cancelled and rearranged five times.in a time when I felt really alone and it took a lot for me to invite a stranger into my home to help me I was very let down and struggled on for three months waiting.don't waste your time, if this has taught me anything it is that I do just fine on my own.
I had a very very bad experience. I wish I had never contacted this. My volunteer Farzana gave me more trouble than ever. She dint even tell when she stopped coming. With 2 kids, it was very bad!
I have had a lovely lady called Ruth supporting me and my family whilst I go through chemo radiation and now whilst I am recovery and the 2 hours she is with us is so important as it takes the pressure off and allows me to get a bit of rest and my family some respite! Amazing charity and I am so grateful to them! xxx

Big thanks to this 7 year old champ for her amazing fundraising efforts for Home-Start. Keira has run and walked 30 miles and raised nearly 600, all of her own volition. What an inspiration
