We provide serious studies in gardening techniques, knowledge of plants, plus garden layout and design possibilities, overseen by major personalities in this growing industry. Termly links withArundel Castle garden and practical work, guided by experienced gardeners at Rosemary Alexander's well known garden in Hampshire, ensure that the course is both practical and theoretical. Students value our help and encouragement in developing their personal skills as gardeners, designers, writers, planting consultants or media presenters.

The first 3 days of this popular 4 day course take place in the Chelsea Physic Garden with the final day spent in two renowned gardens near Petersfield. Tutors are master gardener Ben Pope and Rosemary Alexander. Covers all you need to know to care for your garden - understanding your soil, choosing and buying new plants, growing new plants from seed and taking cuttings, common pests and diseases, lawn care, pruning trees, shrubs and climbers, vegetable and fruit growing, control of weeds, mulching and composting are all explained and demonstrated.

No doubt about it, they turn out some very accomplished garden designers who steal a lot of medals at The Chelsea Flower Show. As a graduate of their garden design course I can attest to their rigorous curriculum, very experienced teaching staff, caring admin. and to the generous and talented principal, Rosemary Alexander.

News of past EGS Graduates - 2017 Lucy Bellamy is taking over from Juliet Roberts as editor of Gardens Illustrated, the best known and much respected gardening magazine. Three of our graduates are exhibiting gardens at the 2017 Chelsea Flower Show - Fiona Cadwallader, Manoj Malde, and Ruth Wilmott.
