We manufacture a range of kits designed specifically for locating leaks of flat roofing systems. Our kits are suitable for all roofs finished with non-conductive membrane materials. Waterproof roofing membranes can be tested for pinholes and porosity by using a high-voltage holiday detector. For the test to be effective, the membrane must have a conductive backing i.e. PVC on steel, felt on concrete or foil-faced insulation board. Faults through membranes can be easily located by passing a high voltage current across the surface using a brush or roller electrode.

Although predominantly used for flat roof leak detection, our electronic leak detection kits have a variety of applications; from testing geo-membranes and reservoir linings, to testing waterproofing systems used in car park construction and even swimming pools. The Dry Roof Pro' kit employs high voltage DC holiday detection methods to locate faults in dry conditions whilst the Wet Roof Pro' uses water as a medium through which electrical current can flow to earth. Warning: Individuals fitted with a pacemaker, cochlear implant or trans-dermal electronic implant - e.g.

Powder coating provides a high-quality, durable method of protecting a ferrous metal substrate and preventing corrosion. However, any faults, defects, pinholes or other porosity in the coating can provide a path for the ingress of moisture which could focus corrosion on a area and promote it rather than prevent it. Our high-voltage DC holiday detectors can test powder coatings and a suitable electrode is almost certainly going to be available from our extensive range. DC holiday detectors (such our PHD Pro' range of portable detectors or DCCT range of stationary detectors) use a high-voltage DC current via a suitable electrode to find these faults, provided an earth 'return' can be connected to the substrate beneath the coating at a convenient location.

Buckleys manufacture two types of spark tester which provide a quick and convenient method of testing the integrity and locating defects in a variety of coatings. Spark Testers generate AC voltages of typically between 10 and 55kV. They are used for testing thicker non conductive coatings and linings of between 3mm and 30mm over conductive materials. Spark Testers have no audible or visual alarms to indicate a fault and rely on the operator to observe a spark jumping through a flaw in the coating material.

Wet testing uses a conductive perimeter wire on the surface of the test area; covered with water and connected to a Pulse Generator which produces low-voltage current that propagates over the test area via the water. An earth-return lead connects the Pulse Generator to a known earth point on the building's structure. Pulse of current find a path to earth through leaks and holes in the non-conductive roofing membrane.
