Wrexham is a fast-growing city with a wide spread of housing types - from older terraced rows in Rhosddu, Brynteg and Rhostyllen to large new-build estates around Llay, Marford and Borras. The new-build properties often have integrated GSE in-roof solar trays as standard, but many customers ask us to extend these systems with additional panels or pair them with a battery for self-consumption. Older homes in central Wrexham can need rewires or a consumer unit upgrade before PV is added - we can handle that as part of the install.
The Wirral peninsula has some of the longest summer daylight hours in the North West, so PV performs particularly well here. We cover Birkenhead, Wallasey, Bebington, Heswall, West Kirby, Hoylake and the Greasby/Upton corridor. Coastal homes near West Kirby and Hoylake see salt-laden winds, so we always specify aluminium rails and marine-grade fittings, and we tend to recommend hybrid inverters with anti-corrosion enclosures. Inland in Bebington and Prenton, conventional pitched-tile installs are quick - we typically complete a 4.5 kWp system with battery in a single day.
From our base in Deeside we cover the breadth of North Wales - east as far as Wrexham, west across Anglesey, north up to the coastal strip from Prestatyn to Llandudno, and south into the upper Conwy and Denbighshire valleys. Travel time can be a factor on quotes, so we are honest up front about scheduling: we typically batch installs in the same area together to keep costs sensible for everyone. Rural properties in Denbighshire and Gwynedd often suit ground-mount arrays or larger-than-average roof installs, while coastal homes need stainless fixings due to salt spray.
Mold is the county town of Flintshire and has a great mix of architecture - everything from the Georgian houses around the High Street to the larger detached homes in Bryn Awelon and out towards Gwernymynydd. We have completed solar PV installs across the town for many years, often on properties with longer ridge lines that let us fit 12 to 16 panels comfortably in one plane. A growing number of Mold homeowners are pairing PV with air source heat pumps for a fully electric heat and power setup - we coordinate the two installs so the panels can offset the heat pump's running cost.
We cover the whole of Flintshire and have a good working relationship with the council's planning and Building Control departments, which makes things like SAP calculations, MCS notifications and any Article 4 area paperwork much smoother. Our Flintshire customer mix is varied: detached 1970s family homes in Hawarden and Penyffordd, newer estates in Northop and Saltney, older terraces in Holywell and Greenfield, and rural smallholdings further up towards Caerwys. We tailor each design to the property type - higher-yield panels for north-facing back roofs, optimisers around chimney shading, and DC-coupled batteries where customers want to maximise self-consumption.
Flint town overlooks the Dee estuary and benefits from open, unshaded skies year-round, which is a real plus for PV yield. Many homes here are stone-fronted terraces or older bungalows on Halkyn Road, Coleshill Avenue and Cornist Lane - tile and slate roofs, sometimes with modest pitch, so we run a yield simulation before quoting. Our most popular Flint package is a 5 kWp system with a 5.2 kWh GivEnergy battery, sized for a family of four. A handful of clients near Oakenholt have gone bigger with 6 kWp+ and EV chargers to charge two cars overnight from cheap-rate electricity.
Ellesmere Port has a strong industrial heritage and a lot of post-war housing stock in Whitby, Great Sutton, Little Sutton and Westminster Park - which means uniform pitched concrete tile roofs that are very straightforward to install on. We can usually scaffold, fit and commission a 4 kWp system here in a single day. The town's commercial side is busy too - we've quoted for warehouses near the M53 junctions and around the Cheshire Oaks retail park, where rooftop solar can offset large daytime grid imports. For homeowners on the Octopus EV tariff, we often package solar with a smart charger and battery to use cheap night-time power and free daytime sun together.
Deeside is our home patch - the team is based just off the A548 and we can be on site for a survey within an hour for residents in Shotton, Queensferry, Hawarden, Sandycroft, Sealand and Garden City. Because Deeside has a big industrial estate as well as housing, our work here is split roughly 70/30 between residential and commercial. On the residential side, we install a lot of 3.5 to 5 kWp systems on standard 1960s semis with 30-degree concrete tile roofs - perfect orientation for South Wales weather. On the commercial side, we have fitted 50 kWp+ arrays on units around Manor Lane and First Avenue.
Anglesey has an unusual mix of properties for solar - whitewashed cottages, modern bungalows along the coast and farm buildings out in the interior near Llangefni and Bodedern. The salt-laden air means we always go with marine-grade aluminium rails and stainless fasteners, and the coastal wind exposure means we calculate wind uplift carefully on every roof. Customers in Holyhead and Amlwch tend to want bigger systems with battery storage to cover winter peaks when ferry and grid demand is high. We have also installed several systems on holiday lets across the island - Beaumaris, Trearddur Bay and Rhosneigr - where the panels generate strong revenue from summer occupancy.
Birkenhead has a real mix of housing stock - the older Victorian terraces around Tranmere and Rock Ferry, post-war semis in Prenton, and the newer apartment developments along the waterfront. Roof angles in the terraced streets are steep (often 40 degrees+) which is actually fantastic for winter solar yield. We carefully assess each chimney stack for shading before quoting, and where shading is unavoidable we fit DC optimisers under each panel. Many Birkenhead clients also ask us about pairing solar with electric vehicle charging since on-street parking can complicate dedicated wallbox installs - we have a few practical solutions for these scenarios.
Conwy is a tricky county for solar - lots of slate roofs, listed buildings inside the town walls, and coastal exposure from Penmaenmawr through to Colwyn Bay. We design installs that suit slate using proprietary hook systems and stainless fixings rated for salt air. Customers in Llandudno Junction and Deganwy tend to opt for larger systems with a battery to ride through winter peaks, while Welsh Government LABC-style heritage installs in the old town are tucked behind roof parapets where possible. We've also been installing more in-roof flush PV systems here for clients who want the panels to sit level with the slate.
Sat on the Dee estuary, Connah's Quay has a mix of 1930s ex-council semis, newer estates near Wepre Park and waterside homes with generous south-facing roofs. Our typical Connah's Quay install is a 4 kWp string of 10 panels for a three-bed semi, often with a 5 kWh battery sized to cover the evening cooking and TV load. We also handle a lot of upgrades here - older 2.5 kWp arrays from a decade ago that customers want extending or pairing with a hybrid inverter and battery. We work with residents along Mold Road, Golftyn Lane and around High Street, and can usually get a system installed in two days.
Chester homes range from Victorian terraces in Hoole and Boughton to newer estates in Saltney and Upton, and each roof type changes the way a solar PV system is designed. We carry out a roof survey, a shading study around chimneys and dormers, and a careful look at the existing fuse box before quoting. Many of our Chester customers add a battery so they can store cheap overnight tariff electricity from Octopus Go or Intelligent Octopus alongside daytime solar - effectively cutting their bills further. Commercial premises near Sealand Road and Bumpers Lane have also benefited from rooftop arrays.
Cheshire is a county of older sandstone properties, listed period homes and large rural plots - so every solar PV install we plan here is different. In Chester we work around conservation area constraints; in Northwich and Winsford we often design larger arrays for detached homes with double garages; out in the rural villages around Tarporley and Knutsford, ground-mounted systems or barn-roof installs are popular. Our typical Cheshire customer is generating between 4,000 and 7,500 kWh per year, with surplus going either to a home battery or exported under SEG. For commercial clients we have completed roof arrays on units in Crewe and along the A49 corridor.
Buckley sits on a high ridge in central Flintshire and many of the terraced homes and post-war semis here have ideal south or west facing roofs for solar PV. Our installs in the town typically range from 8 to 14 panels for a family home, often paired with a 5 to 10 kWh battery to cover evening usage. We regularly fit systems on properties along Mold Road, Liverpool Road and around Drury and Burntwood, and we know the local Building Control team well. For Buckley homeowners considering an EV charger alongside their panels, we can spec a setup that uses surplus solar to top up the car for free in summer.
Having decided to install solar panels we researched local firms and, based on price, installed equipment reviews and reviews of the company itself. We decided upon HSB Renewables. It was a great decision, from contacting Lee to thanking Josh and Gareth on completion; the service, communication and especially the actual installation was exemplary. Nothing phased Josh or Gareth, not the weather or the technical difficulties dealing with an older property that has a loft conversion and another loft that was inaccessible. Everything was completed professionally, knowledgably and with good humour. The stages were explained – in layman’s terms thankfully and the instruction and advice given were fantastic. I have no hesitation in recommending HSB Renewables to anyone. Fantastic Service.
Absolutely delighted with whole experience. Initial inquiry to job completion a treat of constructive information and advice from Lee.
Josh and Joe arrived to breeze through installation efficiently with consideration for my comfort and a sense of humour.
Finally the introduction to my app left me, as a 76 yr old, feeling confident. No mean feat. A great job well done. Thank you.
HSB Renewables did a simply outstanding job installing a 5.52kWp solar system on our house. A very professional company with excellent workmanship. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending them for any solar installation.
HSB installed an 8kw array, 5.5kw inverter and 8kwh battery at a competitive price.
Installation was excellent, roof very tidy, cabling was v tidy and any mess generated was cleaned up straight away.
Also they worked well with other contractors on site at the time.
Highly recommended
I used hsb energy because the were local . From my very first dealing with the company I was very impressed. They fitted 16 panels, 9.5 kw battery and 5kw inverter. All communication with Lee the boss was great. His advice was greatly received. The fitting team were fantastic. They worked hard, answered my questions. They were neat and tidy whilst paying close attention to detail. Any phone call to the company was answered promptly with a happy feel. I cant fault this company at all and I would highly recommend them. I am a very pleased customer. Well done hsb
We had a 9.5kw battery added to our existing solar panel system at the end of June. We were impressed with the price quoted and even more impressed with the installation.. Josh did an amazing job and took me through the entire process and set up on line to monitor the system..highly recommend this company and we would use them again for additional batteries. Well done to you both and thanks for a great job we will pass on your details..
Lee and his team Josh and Joe did 2 installations for me. 2 x9.5kw GivEnergy battery system to go with my existing solar array. Then a month later a new 3.3kw solar system. From start to finish all three provided a great service. The combined 2 systems are working far better than I ever expected. I can highly reccomend HSB.
Lee, Josh and their friendly, professional team installed our solar panel system and solar battery some 6 months ago. Really pleased with our investment; from what we have experienced over this period, we expect full payback in under 7 years. Delighted in what we are saving. We have no hesitation in recommending this company; they were very competitive, informative, courteous and kept us in the loop all through the process.
Lee, Josh and the team were great and professional at all times. We highly recommend them. Good value quote for our solar 6kwh and 9.5kwh battery system and great quality workmanship. They routed cables out of sight and the inverter/battery system is installed neatly together in our garage. They tidied up after themselves and gave a full, clear demo of the system and app ready for us to use. We've hardly been using grid electricity since February this year. Highly recommended.
Excellent service, from design of our system through to installation, everything went smoothly, a very competitive price as well
Very happy with the installation and how much it has reduced our energy consumption, I will happily recommend HSB to my friends and family
Cannot fault this company, right from first contact with Lee he gave us a very competitive price, after quotes from several other companies ( who all asked us to let them know the quotes given so they can then lower their quote) even after I told them to give me their best price from the off, Josh and the team turned up on time were very friendly and polite and very helpful in explaining how the app works, we had 10 panels 3.6 gen3 inverter and 8.2kw battery and we are very happy.
I can highly recommend HSB for solar and battery installation. Started with a good quote and free advice from Lee over the phone. Josh and the other tradesmen were neat and polite. I have recommended to friends and will continue to do so. I called for some advice regarding a givenergy server failure and it was sorted promptly. If I add any more solar or batteries they will be my first port of call. Cheers Stu
We had Solar Panels and Battery storage installed by this company, they did an amazing job and were such nice people to have work in our house. They also had everything organised and the process was extremely quick. Since installation we have had no problems with either system. Fantastic service, would recommend!
Excellent advice, friendly service, and quality installation work. HSB helped me to choose the right system for my situation, and installed it quickly and efficiently. Im really happy with the job they did and will be going straight back to them when the time comes for panels on the other side of the roof. Highly recommended.
We cannot recommend these guys enough. Decent priced quote for our solar and battery system, installed ahead of schedule and the quality of the workmanship is excellent. I cant remember the last time tradesmen did such a neat job for us around the house. They went out of the way to route cables out of sight and the inverter/battery system is a work of art. Everything left clean and tidy at end of job. Many thanks Josh and Lee for all your hard work. Wishing you lots of future success in business.
