I provide details of recent developments on StratfordRoad Sparkhill involving the refurbishment of a previous flooring outlet. The site has been revamped to provide offices and a restaurant with considerable internal work and new cladding to the outside. The roof has been completely covered with photovoltaic arrays. Landmark building: to be converted into modern offices and flats - part of ongoing programme of flat conversions in equally famous landmark buildings around Birmingham.

Revisit to this alteration pre-Christmas this is heated by air source heat pumps in concert with large areas of southerly glazing which help keep it cosy in winter when the sun is at a low altitude in the sky. Notice the large overhangs to stop it over- heating in the summer

The enclosed photos show how a fully glazed southerly facade can be used to its maximum advantage. These pictures were taken at mid-day in mid-winter. Notice how the light stream into the upstairs bedroom and rear recreational spaces below. Very little heating is needed even at this time of yer.
