Put simply, an Air Source Heat Pump is a system that transfers heat from outside to inside a building via radiators, under floor heating and/or hot water. They absorb ambient heat from the outside air and boost this heat to a higher temperature to heat your home and provide hot water. These systems are a proven and reliable technology and are able to extract heat from the air even when temperatures are as low as -20°C. They are usually situated outside the property adjacent to a side or back wall but can be placed up to 50 meters away if using a split system.

Ground Source Heat Pumps extract natural heat in the ground to provide heating & hot water in domestic and commercial properties. They are an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional electric, oil and gas central heating systems and can reduce your fuel bills, lower home carbon emissions and also provide you with an income through the government's Renewable Heat Incentive (subject to certain conditions). Although they do need electricity to operate, they produce more energy than they consume, typically at 400% efficiency.
